He may not be a household name like Steve Wynn or Sam Rothstein, but many of us will have visited casinos owned by Kirk Kerkorian. He most famously founded MGM resorts, but it is believed that at one point he owned over half the hotel rooms on the Vegas Strip.

Kerkorian died on Monday at the ripe old age of 98, a very good innings.

More on the casino tycoon, reportedly worth $4.2bn and at the height of his success as much as $16bn

Yes, when you're a billionaire, you certainly want to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

It's a classic rags to riches, son of an immigrant story, incredible!

Incredible to live for so long in what must have been a very stressful industry to be involved in for so long. Fair play to him. Left quite a legacy didn't he.

Talk about rags to riches, Guy Laliberté, the founder of Cirque du Soleil, is another self-made billionaire.....He started as a street performer in Canada, and was sleeping on the streets.

But yes, I could only dream of living to be 98.....
