The Company also announces that in preparation for the real money play launch, SkillPoker.com, Inc., released a player feedback survey today at Link Removed in order to ensure the highest level of customer interaction with the real money launch.

Has anybody tried skillpoker.com out?
I talked to a rep, just to get some details about their operation.
They are audited by Smythe Radcliff, of Vancouver B.C.:
Auditors: Smythe Ratcliffe, Chartered Accountants
Address: 7th Floor, Marine Building
355 Burrard Street
Vancouver, British Columbia
Canada V6C 2G8 .
They need no gambling license - their software is catagorized as a skill-based, and therefore doesn't fall under the gambling header.
Anyway, it sounds interesting. If anyone knows more about them, please post it!

all I know about it so far is, it's a brand new poker game, and it is a Vancouver police officer, Detective Randy Peterson, who came up with it..
He says it's a legal poker game for the internet, because it eliminates the element of chance and focuses on a player's ability. Whoever wins the pot, does so because they've played the best hand.

They are a publically traded company, still in start-up; I'm interested in players opinions of the game.

Players don't win by beating the players at their own table, they win by beating the players at their table better than someobdy else witht he same hand beats the players at *their* table. That means that you can get dealt a Royal Flush and still lose! Or win at your table and still lose! I'm not sure that will have wide appeal to the people who enjoy poker so much as it will have appeal to people who play Bridge or Chess.

It is an interesting concept alright, and Poker.com Inc (now LegalPlay) has been pushing out press releases for months. It's been a long Beta test it would appear.

Poker.com Inc was in the news for having it's domain hi-jacked and losing high profile poker software clients (not Skill Poker - another venture) earlier this year or late last.

Peterson invented the Skill Poker concept, sold it to a Swiss company called Blue Diamond, for which he still occasionally consults. Peterson was then taken on board at Poker.com Inc as a consultant and Poker.com Inc then paid out a wad of shares to Blue Diamond plus a royalty agreement in order to obtain exclusive rights to the pending patent for Skill Poker. That patent is still, I understand, pending.

Another wad was transferred to a software company called Pokersoft Software A.V.V. which provided the poker software in which Skill Poker is carried.

The first Poker.com Inc / LegalPlay sub-licensee was...Blue Diamond.

The legality question which is at the center of LegalPlay's marketing strategy and raison d'etre has not as far as I am aware been legally tested, although respected legal eagles like Prof Nelson Rose have commented positively on it.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2003--LegalPlay Entertainment Inc. (OTCBB: LPLE - News) announced today that through its wholly owned subsidiary, SkillPoker.com Inc., it will be launching the SkillPoker online card room for real money play at 5PM PST / 8PM EST, Thursday, November 13, 2003.
The launch of SkillPoker culminates months of development, beta testing and extensive player feedback to ensure a desirable, entertaining and efficient product is launched to the poker playing community.

Real money play will be offered in a number of different formats including multilevel and single level poker tournaments. SkillPoker.com Inc. will also be offering a number of special promotions for real money players which will be featured at Link Removed.

The growth of online poker has been very significant in the past two years despite the potential crippling legislation proposed by a number of politicians in the U.S. The Company is hopeful to capitalize on the growth of online poker through its patent pending and trade marked SkillPoker system. As a skill based game, SkillPoker will not be affected by proposed legislation which may negatively impact the playing of online poker by U.S. consumers.

The Company anticipates earning revenue through tournament fees paid by players in its own card room and through the sale of licenses of its intellectual property and proprietary software.

I've played here several times and havent found it to be particularly fun. It's an interesting concept and might become the standard for online poker if the gambling prohibition act passes, but i dont find it nearly as fun as regular poker.

I was at www.poker.com this week and it is now a microgaming website. Does anyone know the latest?

From last week's Casinomeister News...

Poker.com lives anew

The contentious domain Poker.com is being sub-leased by yet another gambling company, giving it a powerful, traffic-pulling advantage in the booming online poker sector.

Poker.com now points to a portal for the poker interests of Aztec Riches, a member of the Casino Action Group that uses top-rated Microgaming poker software and is a member of the rising Prima Poker global network.

The domain has an interesting history and has been the subject of litigation. Michael Jackson's Poker.com site originally long-leased the url from the owner who prefers to remain in the background it would seem. Subsequently Mark Glusing headed up the Poker.com company which aimed to provide poker room software with the advantage of this strong domain title. There was a dispute, and the owner took back the domain amid cries of "hi-jack!" and legal actions.

Poker.com had to change its name to Poker.com Inc, but the company in any case went off in another direction with the SkillPoker concept and is now titled LegalPlay.

And as a postscript, this week LegalPlay pushed out another press release announcing that they are going after an unspecified credible European online gambling license in order to launch an Internet poker room that will be called Pokerpass.com. The software to be used was not disclosed, but a possibility imo is the Swiss poker software developer with whom LegalPlay/Poker.com Inc already has a (SkillPoker) business relationship - Pokersoft Software AVV.

This is the second time they have issued this press release - the same thing was pumped out on December 3 and LegalPlay ignored our questions for more detail which has again not be en included here, like which jurisdiction they have applied for.
