Here is another one for people with questions. Im pretty good at locations of casinos on the main strip and how big they are.

If you have questions like the best seafood buffet (Rio Grande btw) etc. I like staying at the Monte Carlo because it's at a nice location, it's not too big like some of the other ones and they have cool pools. More of an intimate setting.

Ceasers has the Palm restaurant and they also have Spago as well as other great eateries. Elton John lives there. He has his own store that has his grand piano in it as well as other cool stuff . Lots of Boxing and very nice

Bellagio has the most beautiful inside next to the venetian. They have those patuli(sp) flowers that are hand blown and cost about $100 a piece. The whole ceiling has it covered in them in the atrium next to the lobby. They have one of the best buffets in Vegas featuring lobster tails, lollipop lambchops and caviar. The only thing I dont like is that alot of stuffy people stay there. It's not a casual casino like some of the other ones. The biggest feature is the fountains that move to music.

Rio Grande....Off the strip by about 5 minutes. Every half hour is a Mardi Gras celebration with beads and everything that goes with it. THey have the best sseafood buffet. It has been said that if you took all of their buffet table and put them in one straight line, it would add up to 1/4 mile!!

MGM Grand is HUGE and has beautiful Lions in a glassed in setting. Neilson ratings is there and you can get $50 by attending a showing of a brand new show and rating it. Wolfman Puck has his restaurant in there.

Venetian: This is the closest you will ever come to Venice besides going to Italy. They have real gondola's and the river with Italian singers. They have operas in the middle of the mall. This is a Hotel that cannot be overlooked while visiting Vegas. The food and shops are amazing!!

NYNY: OMG...they have it down pact down to the sewers with steam coming out of them along with all of the NY food! This is one cool casino, but it's quite large and you can lost in the casino!! They have a beautiful 911 firefighting memorial with plaques of the names of firefighters that gave their life. It's quite moving. They even have a brooklyn bridge

Please add more and your opinions on the hotels. There are too many to write about lol.

The last two times I stayed in Vegas was at the Wynn. The rooms are fantastic. They beat any other room I've been in hands down. They have huge bathrooms with showers that are made for two people. There is even a television by the sink.

The casino is good - large, and I've had some great wins there.

Buffet is one of the best, as their normal restaurant. The pool looks good from the outside or in photos. But it's only about a meter deep. How in the hell are you supposed to swim in that? :what:

The disco downstairs is pretty trippy with a waterfall and huge dance floor. They also have some great shows. Check out "Le Reve"; you'd think you were on some acid trip.

CM et al, you may find this interesting,I was in Vegas practically all of April 2005 and attended the opening of the Wynn which the sentiment as well as reviews after the opening by most was that of disappointment. In actuality, Steve Wynn created this sentiment with all the years of pre-publicity build up and yet everything was so secretive(and virtually no leaks) that everyone including the media, other casinos and execs(who were freaking over the unknown of the new competitor) and public had expectations of the 8th Wonder of the World all the way up to the actual April 28,2005(iirc) opening. I beleive to most it was just another nice mega resort and thus the disappointment with the exception being the mega resort competitors who were very relieved as they originally feared many of their valued customers would leave for the Wynn..............I have not been back to the Wynn in over a year and most l know, like yourself, have had pleasant recent experiences to report(after the initial growing pains) and although it may have gotten a Mobil 5 star rating(not positive), most still rate Wynn's original Bellagio(now owned by MGM) best followed by the group of Wynn, The Venetian,Mandalay..............point simply being that the Wynn simply never lived up to what one expected to be the 8th Wonder of the World.......................BTW, if you want to avoid the strip, there are some wonderful other first class resorts and casinos including The Ritz-Carlton at the Lakes of Las Vegas, the new Red Rock in Summerlin is terrific, and Green Valley Ranch in Henderson is first class and fun.

Is the Green Valley Ranch the casino that the winner of Hell's Kitchen will be the head chef in? Oohh- maybe Gordon Ramsey will show up so I can tell him to bugger off.

I guess so but since I have never seen Hell's Kitchen, would this be considered a good or bad thing?

you mean titties? i'm there! i love when girls will flash for a token gesture worth five cents.

LOL

Im sure there have been women that have done that to get beads!!!!

Also, The Four Seasons Hotel is beautiful, it is located at the end of the strip not far from Tropicana Blvd!

Yeah Nash, I heard the same thing. My brother was there for the opening and although he said it was nice, he expected more as well. I would probably love it though seeing that Im such a hotel freak. If I ever won millions, I wouldnt buy a house, I would love to live in different fancy hotels for months at a time LOL

Isn't the Four Seasons actually now called The Hotel or am I mistaken? The Hotel is also first class and most think it is part of Mandalay(because they are attached) but it is not so at least Mandalay claims to me they can not have the rooms at The Hotel comped but I guess they want you in their hotel as they would probably or might have to come out of pocket for one to be comped at The Hotel. Thanks for starting these fun threads, BTW...NASH:)

The Green Valley Ranch is great. I was there with a couple of friends a few years ago and witnessed my first cash pay out ($1000 - LED Gaming's "Checkers") That was really fun.

Green Valley is a fun place - seems to be full of locals. Away from the strip can be very nice.

Agreed, I love hiding at GVR,,,,,,,Check out Red Rock(not a beer, sorry) the next time you are in Vegas. It is also a Station Casino and a site to enjoy.

LV

Four Seasons is the top few floors of Mandalay Bay, not The Hotel building. They also have a private pool area, but you can also use the MB pools if you are a 4S guest. I love staying there, but it's pricey. They have a great restaurant out by the pool that has a really good weekend brunch buffet that's hardly ever busy. The rooms at Green Valley Ranch were copied after the 4S rooms, and they are very nice, as are the rooms at Red Rock.

It's Rio, not Rio Grande. You can ride in the floats in the parade in the sky for a fee. I did that once and it was a blast.

The flowers in the lobby ceiling at Bellagio were made by Dale Chihuly. I've seen people above them cleaning them. Wild. The Conservatory next to the lobby is as must see, and it's changed for the seasons and a couple other times of the year, too, like Chinese New Year.

Gambling (video poker) is getting less and less favorable unless you go off strip or downtown.

To see what is being built and so forth, visit www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com. Very interesting.

ETA Adding another first class off strip (way off strip) out in Summerlin. JW Marriott. It has really nice rooms. Best hotel bathroom I've ever seen in a regular room. I've stayed about 20 different hotels in Vegas, and JW and 4S are 1st and 2nd for rooms, then GVR and Red Rock. Stations are building their next one, Alliante, in the far north east corner of the valley, and it's been started. They are going to be building up around the existing Palace Station and Wild West properties.

Thanks for clarifying as my post indicated I was not sure. For some reason I thought The Hotel may be managed by Four Seasons and thus actually just one hotel ...........I have all kinds of Vegas links but I felt maybe I should not post pursuant to the intent and also in the interest of maintaining the shelflife of the threads by allowing posters to convey their own personal experiences, opinions, etc. about their so called "Best of".etc. Then use the links for information like you provided for what is coming down the road. That is good stuff.

vegas is my playground. i am comped pretty much everywhere but usually stay at flamingo. i dont care for all the glitz and glamour and crowds. dont care if there is a flatscreen in the bathroom. i'm never in my room. when i go, usually 6-8 times a year now, i'll stay mid strip and also get a room at main street station downtown. if i am in a gambling mood i'll hit vp at palms. by far the best vp of the big properties. almost no full pay vp on the strip. downtown it is drying up as well. almost no 3/2 blackjack on the strip. all 6/5 so i dont bother. you can find a good table at times but always so crowded. always go sun to fri. hate the weekends unless i have to be there for a fight. always have my skates cause i'll go over to orleans and grab a skate with whatever minor league team plays there at the time. drunk 24/7, zero sleep, i love being 40 but acting like 2 20 year olds.

Hey 1819

My friend here in PA goes to the Flamingo every year as well. BUT...he just got back 2 weeks ago and they had to comp the whole week because he had to change rooms 3 times. They are in the middle of renovating and some of the rooms are a mess.

He never complains either, so it must be a mess at the moment

ftr, some of the strip casinos do not even try this 6/5 rip off by offering any type of single deck BJ, Tunica offers single deck 3/2 everywhere(I think)..................for $19/year you can subscribe to blackjackinsider.com's newsletter which monthly generally publishes BJ playing conditions thru/out the US as well as as other interesting articles plus there are other sites/pubs. with even more thorough playing condition reports.;)

I dont know what that means 3/2 6/5?

He just said to me "im going over to that single deck bj game"
No biggie and ftr just so you and some others know it means that a natural or blackjack pays 3 to 2 versus 6 to 5. Depending on house rules believe it or not a blackjack paying only 6 to 5 can increase the houses advantage over 500% or more. No need to explain the math. It sounds like your brother is a veteran and would know to never play anything but 3 to 2......Unfortunately, these strip casinos advertise single deck blackjack(on their marquees-sp) and most players think great while most single deck blackjack on the strip pays 6 to 5 on a blackjack which to the informed blackjack player is called robbery. One should never play single deck or any amount of decks where a blackjack only pays 6 to 5,not opinion but fact..............hope this helps:)
