Well i was watching TV tonight and surpisingly enough i saw an advertisement for Jackpotcity.net advertising free casino games. At first i thought it was a bit strange that a website offering free casino games could afford to advertise on Australian TV. I mean what financial benefit could they possibly get out of it if all the games are free? I mean the website would have to be a free website to even get broadcasted on Australian tv as it is technically illegal in Australia for online casinos to offer online casino games to Australians.

I was curious so i went to the website Jackpotcity.net and found a site that genuinely was completely free and seemed to have no connection to another real online casino at all but of course there is JackpotCity.com. Soon i realised that they are based in Gibraltar (similiar to the JackpotCity accredited casino). Now i don't play at JackpotCity.com but when i went to their website, the two sites were incredibly very very similar.

From the looks of it the Jackpotcity.net site has been setup to get around local laws to allow them to advertise on TV and draw people into playing at the actual jackpotcity casino.

This little sentence down the bottom of JackpotCity.net is interesting too "There is no obligation to deposit any money or download any Online Casino Software" which of course suggests there is an option or link on the site to download the actual software and deposit.

I am not sure if it is immoral finding this loophole and getting people to sign up to a free site in the hope they find the very similar looking real site in a country where online gaming is technically illegal.

Really i just found this all very intersting and thought i would share this with the members of CM and see what peoples opinion was on the topic.

Jackpot City is one of the handful of casinos I've seen advertising on UK TV.
Of course, it's totally legal here, so they are advertising the "play for real money" .com version.

I do have one question, was this on a pay t.v subscription or free to air? The reason I ask is because the times I have watched Pay tv they really do not care what or who they advertise.

Yeah it is very clever, come to think of it, it is very similar to the advertisements of FullTiltPoker.net (which looks like they use the same strategy) which i think was only on Pay TV however i was watching mythbusters when it came on which i am pretty sure is on SBS so thats free to air.

It was the first time i ever saw that advertisement and you dont see advertisements for anything gambling related often on Australian TV especially online but you do see it every now and then and this was the first time i saw it from JackpotCity

The operators set up free/promotional-only websites with the same branding but a .net domain.
