Hiya: All of us have heard all our gambling lives the following statement.

"In the Long Run"...............................

Followed by things like:
The casino will win
The Odds will catch up to you
You will catch up to the odds
The math is the math is the math
and so on.

So, Just how long is the Long Run? Does it apply to everybody, and all the time? Does it go both ways? that being you catch up to the odds if you are behind, and you fall back down to the odds if you are ahead.

Your thoughts please. Thanks.

RTG doesn't release a new slot for play until 31 million spins have been completed. I guess that's the long run to determine that the game is within proper rtp.

As far as online casinos goes, the "long run" is bad for business. If a player starts out on the negative variance side of the "long run" he/she will believe the casino is crooked or rigged. This is likely due to the fact that virtual cards drawn by the online casino just don't have the same creditability as seeing actual physical cards being drawn from a card shoe in land-based casinos.

I believe most reputable online casinos try to hover around 43% win rate for the player after a few hundred blackjack hands. Players are not going to stick with an online casino for a million hands in order to "ride out" the negative variance.
