I'm on a massive road trip accross the States. Started in San Diego, up through Salt Lake City, Utah, Idaho, Yellowstone, the Badlands - Wyoming, South Dakota, Mount Rushmore, and then down through St. Louis, Memphis (Graceland - yeah!), New Orleans Bourbon street, Panama City Beach, FLA, Jacksonville, and now Charleston SC. I'll be hanging out in Georgia for a few days and of course Florida. :p

We've got two more weeks to go - motels, hotels, four people to a bathroom to include two teenagers. Will I survive??

I'll be posting pictures in due time. :D

i live in san diego and welcome to our awsome city - if you have time check out our beautiful beaches- wish i can meet you i would definitely treat you to some great local crafted beers ( i know you love beer as i do ).
good luck on your endeavors
cheers

I left San Diego almost two weeks ago :D, but thanks anyway.

LOL - almost made it there, but we headed south through Iowa and Missouri. :p

I'm in Georgia at the mo'.

Did you reach Mount Rushmore on July 4th?

I recall a guide there telling us that it was usually packed on Independence Day and if you made it that far I wonder what your experience was?

We were there around the 30th/1st. There were still a lot of people but not all that bad. We had made it to Panama City Beach FLA by the fourth. Lots of rednecks drinking Budweissers and blowing off fireworks. We had sushi in Jacksonville. :p

Reminds me of the Charlie Daniels Band song - 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' :D

What an awesome itinerary!

I hope you didn't pay too much for any of your hotel rooms. That is my business. Did you happen to drive through or even stop in Biloxi, MS, home of my favorite casino in the world, Beau Rivage?

Have a safe and enjoyable rest of your vacation!

Being a part of the sweaty Orlanda crowd is on the agenda. Not my idea.

FYI - I just read that the line just to get into Universal yesterday was a 3 hour wait and the attractions at the new Harry Potter were a 5 hour wait.
Epcot is really nice  And they have beer in the all countries of the world showcase so you can get drunk around the world.

We're pretty frugal on the hotels - needs free wifi and coffee in the morning - and enough room to open four suitcases on the floor or whatever. So far the Hampton Inns have been pretty good. And we haven't had an issue of paying too much - and we've only stayed at one crap hole (in Charleston SC - pubic hairs in the bathroom and bed! Ewwww.

Breezed through Biloxi last week. I really like the South. I lived in the South for about eight years and I like most of it except for the humidity - and the Bible thumpers.. :D

We were at Universal yesterday. Didn't make the Gringots ride; it was a 5 hour wait, :eek2: but everything else was fine - Diogon alley is awesome if you're a HP fan. But yeah, way too many people. The newer rides were a breeze though - 60 minute wait for the new Hogwarts ride - but if you choose to ride single - it was about 5 minutes.

Summer crowds suck - but for us it can't be helped. We happen to be here now - so we go. :D

I have to admit, traveling right now sucks during the World Cup. Americans have virtually no interest in it. We had to listen to the second German game fading in and out on the radio in the middle of South Dakota. Saw the amazing German - Brazil game in a hotel room though :p

But now we have to time our arival at a hotel tomorrow that will let us in at 1pm in order to see the game. And we don't know what town we're going to be in yet. :eek2:

The last World Cup I watched in Phoenix was all en español because none of the regular stations were carrying the games except on pay-per-view. We had to stay up til 1 or 2 or 3am and watch on Telemundo. The commentators are a lot more energetic though!

Gigse

Are you not going to Gigse this year in San Francisco? If not, sorry to miss you.

That is very fortunate then. The most amazing game I ever watched, one that if you had missed then read about it afterwards would have left an empty feeling....final tonight and I hope it's Deutschland Uber Alles!
