Looks like IL is the first state to allow online gambling through their lottery website.

On Sunday residents of IL can purchase Lotto and Mega Millions tickets online, hmm I bet other games are in their future. :)

I like this but I don't like during registration they're going to request a SS#, how about after someone wins big then request it? Poll by CM here on the SS# issue but now it should include U.S. state lottery sites: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/us-members-poll-your-ssn-and-online-casinos.49077/

Personally I can't see providing my SS# every time I register at a gaming site, too much exposure at multiple sites and multiple servers. JMO

Well, maybe this will actually 'fly' (unlike D.C. and online poker/gaming which was blown out of the water). If a few states will go ahead and make the moves, others will follow. If Nevada and Calif. will get off the stick and get their online poker going, I think other states that already have casino gambling will make moves toward legalizing lottery and poker online.

I don't like entering SS# of course. I mean.... it says right on the card it's NOT for identification. LOL

Gambling is the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods. A state lottery ticket can look really tempting to a struggling consumer in the economic downturn.
