Just realised that I should have introduced myself when I joined. So will tell you a bit about me. I have been gambling online since about 2004. Have played at a lot of different places. I now only play at 32red & 3dice. I joined these casinos again recently after quite a long absence from gambling. I chose to play there cause I know they are trustworthy, very friendly, have small min. deposits & fast payouts. And no bullshit when it comes to paying. Also it is easier for me to just play at a couple of casinos, less confusing to remember usernames & PW, & less space used on computer.

I am about to say something which I hope will help some people. A few years ago I had a problem with gambling. It got so bad I ended up bankrupt & my wife left me. It was horrible. I like anyone, began to suspect the games were rigged which just wasn't true. The games weren't rigged, it was me who was at fault. No one forced me to make the bets it was my choice. Casinos have a house edge & to think it is possible to beat that is crazy.

I stopped or was forced to stop anyway because of bankruptcy. I no longer had a bank account or any means to deposit. In a way although it was hard it opened my eyes and showed me that there was more to life than gambling. I eventually channelled that energy into other things like making music, writing, painting. I now host a radio show on community radio & am completely hooked on music which is a much better thing to be addicted to. I also got back together with my wife again.

She is now in charge of all the money. My choice, I don't like plastic cards they are too easy to waste money with. So I no longer own any. I use Ukash vouchers to deposit into Neteller. I get a bit of money spare each week that my wife gives me which is safe to gamble with. I sometimes opt to save it or go down the pub. I do like gambling & don't want to give it up, but now it is a fun thing I do with spare change rather than a black hole to fight a losing battle against. If I lose it doesn't matter, cause it is money I can afford to lose, & I just log out of the casino & forget about it. If I win then it is like Christmas :)

I have found a good way to break free from compulsive gambling is to channel that compulsive energy into something else which isn't going to ruin your life. For me it was producing music, but for others it could be something different. If you get passionate about something else it
really helps, at least it helped me anyway. That way gambling just becomes what it's meant to be, a bit of fun, & if you don't hit a feature on a slot or do very well at the tables, it's not a big deal cause you've only lost money you would have spent in the pub or on a night out. And if you win, well that's the part which makes it fun.

Sorry this is such a long post. Just want to say this as I notice a lot of posts from angry players on the forum cause they had a bad losing streak. When gambling gets like that it isn't fun anymore & I know it is hard but you probably need to have a break for a while & do something different, get back some control in your life & come back if you want to, but only with money you can afford to lose. If you have someone close to you it helps if they take charge of the money so you can't just make another deposit if you lose. If you get in control it is really freeing & playing becomes fun again.

Things I'd like to get from this site are some good banter & info on becoming an affiliate.

Things I can offer. I can write articles, I am OK at graphic design & I can be quite good at coming up with new ideas.

Anyway enough from me :)

Welcome to CM:notworthy

Wow, that was a long, but interesting read. Great introduction.
Regarding your story I can only give you the advice to let you wife also have insight in you Netelleraccount.
The difficult bit can be if you win a large sum since that is a good trigger to get crazy again;)

But it sound like your recovery has gone well. Insight and knowledge is the most important thing, and since you seems to do well in your real life now I can only wish you the best:)

Hi Richie,

Thanks for sharing your experiences - gambling can be a real bitch, as many here know.

We have a page here as well that assists people when they need some ways out. Most of the suggestions are like yours - finding other pleasures in life that supersede the rush of making a bet.

And welcome to the forum! I hope that you'll become an active member here. There is more to this site than gambling.

Hi Richie, first of all let me say, well done to you, you have overcome so much, yes gambling can get a tight grip on you, that is, if you let it.

In truth all anyone needs to do to break any addiction is to break the patterns/routines that causes the addiction to get worse in the first place.

Great introduction and welcome:)

Just want to say this is a really good site and forum. Been getting up to speed with it, read most of the articles and some of the earlier posts. Some bizarre stories, which are almost as gripping as reading a detective novel, as you don't know where some of the threads are heading, with all the twists and turns.

I love the awards section, actually made me spill my tea at one point I was laughing so hard. Can't wait for the 2012 awards.

My opinion is if people want to gamble online, they should be allowed to, it is their choice. Don't agree with the USA and other countries governments heavy handed approach to it. It just needs to be safer and better regulated. Which is what this site trys to do, by accrediting casinos and having the PAB function, and the ability to contact reps, it makes the whole online gambling a lot more secure.

The people on here seem to be sound and good to talk to as well.

Good site man
