How many spins before you give up on a slot?

I usually do not go beyond 20 spins. Is that too soon to quit? Is it too late? I guess it varies on the game as I find with DOA if it does not pay within the first 10 spins -- it ain't paying! Just interested to see how many spins you guys usually hold yourself to. I think you need to set a max amount of spins you are willing to give the game.

I am addicted guy with some weird logic. I am always play it till the end :D Always hope that game MUST RETURN ME AT LEAST SOMETHING!!!! Or GIVE ME THIS FEATURE COME ONE 200 SPINS ALREADY!! Yeah, this is how i usually lose :)

That depends on software and game, and if the game is paying of course. Never below 50 though. On doa rarily below 200 but then I start all over again:D

If it's a high variance the game can be dead for a long long time.

Could that be the reason you'll not winning maybe? No patience at all :)

I am patient -- just I have chased a slot once too many times. Like Homerbert I have played right until the end only to find out that it is not ever going to pay. I may try your 50 spin logic though. Thanks guys.

Patience is a great thing for many situations but personally for me, more often than not in can result in a big chunk disappearing from your balance.

When to move on, change game etc has no right or wrong answer and (thankfully) we'll never know if the next spin was a big hit after we've decided to change game.

After many, many years of gambling experience in general (Since I was 18, now 43) all I can say is that you get a 'feel' for these sort of things, nothing set in stone, no rules that are the same for every session BUT an idea of how to extend that session, even if from the word 'go' it was destined for a bust!

I play the same 10-15 games across numerous providers and tend to go no more than £5-£10 per game max, although again this is never something I stick to religiously.

A sign of a cold game means nothing, Thunderstruck II was destroying me the day I suddenly had all 5 reels turn wild, never saw that one coming!

I've also gone onto a game and increased balance over £200 on minimum bets within half hour or so, though 'Time to move on' and its thrown even more wins my way!

So as I mention there are no right or wrongs but pointers I use which you may want to try (no blame accepted :p)

Allow £5 per game (example: 17 Spins @ 0.30p) - break even go again, get £3 of your £5 back, try another ten spins maybe, No wins at all, no sign of scatter = move on!

Choose 4-5 games you fancy playing, BEFORE your deposit and first spin and use above 'tactic'

Do not venture between too many games at the start of a session.

Really don't want to sound cocky or big headed but I have been in profit for numerous years and this sort of approach as briefly detailed had done me more good than harm :D

Oh yeah: none of this is applicable to DOA really. On a deposit I usually don't play DOA at all until I'm heading for a bust and usually throw my last £7-£8 at DOA on 0.09p bets

What do you mean by "not paying within the 1st 10 spins" when playing DOA? If you're expecting a bonus rounds or 5 reel win within 10 spins all of the time, you're not giving the slot a chance.

However, if you mean not a single win within 10 spins I can see where you're coming from.

The majority of the time slots like Doa,reel steal and break the bank again etc take many thousands of spins to win big the best tip I can give is stay on minimum size bets until it wins something significant such as second top symbol or better. Up the bet no more than double and pray it's going hot. Also don't be fooled into thinking it's a brand new session when you close and reopen a slot... I'm certain it's not take this example doa was freezing at Boyle games for hundreds of rounds I go back on another day within 50 spins I'd won 3714x bet...this isn't coincidence I have many other examples of this happening on other slots and if it's a new session why is it the download mg tournaments have a continue play option...if it's new then it would only offer a new session option...

Surely it shouldn't matter whether the session is new or 1,000's of spins. The slots supposedly don't know how many previous spins you've made because they are random after all. You can hit a monster win on the very 1st spin or never get it playing 1,000's of them.

Despite all theories, including mine above, whether right or wrong here it is in a nutshell

The minute you 'gamble' on anything whether you are going to win or not and what you do along the way to try and improve your odds is down to luck and luck alone.

Slots are there for one and only one purpose!

MY main points would be to stay in control and enjoy!

Even though they are random they also have a legal RTP meaning they legally have to payout something not saying DOA will win every time you hammer it with thousands of spins what I am saying is far greater chance due to it's high risk element if you play it till you bust. Discussed this with Blathaon and others before and they agree it usually takes a very long time to get the elusive money line or 5 scatters.

They don't have to pay out anything to one particular individual.
The RTP% is what an individual wins or loses. The figure which you might call 'legal' is the TRTP%, which is what a game should, theoretically, pay out overall, based on the wins or loses of ALL players, not the individual player, and that's achieved by the layout of the reels and paytables over millions of spins

Yes that's what I meant Therotical Return to player not RTP.

I can't imagine only playing 20 spins on any slot!
... unless I get a VERY big win in those 20 spins.

I always want to get at least 1 bonus feature - so I will play until I get one. If nothing comes, I will generally give up after about 200 - 300 spins - though this does vary from slot to slot, depending on how frequently the bonus features should hit.

Wow! I guess I have been going about this the wrong way. Thank's for everyone's thoughts on this. Will be logging on to NextCasino later so we shall see how good this advice is. Will post if I have any decent wins. Sorry, no royalties for you guys if I do win. LOL.

I agree entirely. Find that a decent win in first few spins is incredibly rare although it does happen. Instead I find you can see if DOA is currently hot within the first 100-120 spins.

That said, it can turn hot at any point. You know is getting there if you see a decent four wild feature. Very rarely does a wildline hit entirely out of the blue. A five scatter on the other hand is often to be found when nothing else is going on in the game.

But I play DOA almost exclusively. I'll put in my deposit and play til win or bust. Typically I'll take out the lions share of a win and play on for a bit with house money. Occasionally pays off to do that.

Playing only a handful of spins in DOA is nothing but a waste of time and money in my experience.

Going back to my old ways. I just lost money faster this way. At least I get to play longer my way -- after all -- for me it is just entertainment.

Is this because I wouldn't give you guys any of my share? Boo you for cursing me:D

Just broken my own 'rule' and been deservedly punished for it.

Said in another thread earlier today that Netent's 'Egg O Matic' wasn't a bad game at all.

Watched over 20 Eggs 'sail by' and not one dropped, thought 'Free Spin Egg will surely come next time'

Another 50 or so Eggs later where only the 2.5x stake eggs were dropping and I was thinking very differently :mad:

Need to listen to my own advice more often, a small profit and good chance of 4x deposit cash out turned into a bust, something I very rarely do.

Twat Jon! - Good Night!!

except doa i also give a slot 20 spins, but with doa i give it atleast 100 spins, i had few times 20 dead spins followed by a bonus round which paid nice so when the game goes totally dead in base game i know a bonus round is coming

But 99% of the time i give MGS slots 10-20 spins b4 switching and then go back to them later

20 spins before jumping ship is about 60 seconds worth of spins in my case its quite the low number. The only game where I'd jump ship at 20 spins or less is starburst but whenever I play starburst its usually because I only have $1.50 or under left anyway lol.

As others mentioned I find in particular 9 liner games its best to give it as many spins as you can before giving up - maybe 50 spins or more. All it takes is one trigger of a bonus round and every so often - for example on reel steal - you will get a 4OAK or 5OAK top paying symbol with wild for an ok/good return on that spin.

I'd prefer to play till I can get a bonus round at least and I'd be prepared to play up to 200 spins for that. Except for games like DOA if I don't get a bonus round within 100 spins I'm out and with games like bust the bank because bonus rounds seem somewhat harder to trigger I expect anywhere from 200-400 to land it. Some games like novomatic I only play for the bonus round so instead of counting spins I'd be watching my balance and saying to myself I'm prepared to put in $20 to land the bonus round. For example rumpel wildspin - if I land the bonus round I have alot of confidence I'm going to get a nice return for it or at the very least somewhere close to what it took to trigger it.

No right or wrong way to play I suppose but if your going to go 20 spins per slot may I suggest playing at those casinos that allow multi-slot play like Videoslots/Thrills - open up 2-4 slots do 20 spins each slots and then continue with the one that you feel you are going to get lucky on or close them all and open another 2-4 :p

On regular slots, I give it a minimum of 20-30 spins. If I'm lucky, I'll add 5-10 more spins. If not, I'll leave.
On progressive slots, I give it 50-100 spins. And keeping my fingers crossed that I'll hit the jackpot.
:drink:

About 50 spins normally . If I hit a bonus round even if it was in the first few spins . I would give it a extra 5 spins for some unknown reason then I would leave and move on

Now i give up totally with Hooks Heroes. Cant be anymore bad luck, must be something fixed with that slot.
First when game come in casinos i get over ten times feature with minimum bet. Now i have played that same game only with 0,40€&0,60€ bet.
Not even single free spins won, totally terrible game. Just couple minutes ago i lost 90€ in that game with 0,60€ bet and one time get 5xbet win.
Now i have lost hundres euros on that game and play over 1000 spins without features and under 50% payout.
Last time i never play that horrible game....
