As it's nearly that time of year I thought it would be interesting to see how many CM members like to have a bet on the Grand National, for for those that do - how do you pick your horse?

Is it research, or the one with the funniest name :D

Normally I only play thoroughbred and quarterhorse races but I have bet on the Grand National once or twice. Pick the horses the same way I do the other races. Study the Form.

in hong kong we used to be able to place bets a decade ago. however no more live coverage and no betting allowed anymore. i used to pick horses with funny names and those with stamina.

I look at the recent form, how the horse performs on the type of ground over fences and the weight its carrying. The trainer's pedigree too - how many they have entered, the form the stable is in and also the way the early betting is going. Then I pick the one with the stupidest name and go out for the afternoon.

That's my kind of thinking! My wife and I went to a horse race in hong kong and did this... and it won! Then I found out I'd filled in the bet slip wrong

I have a punter trying out for the NFL lol isn't that what you call it? or is it kicker maybe. I know as much about betting on horses as I do football.
