Grand Slam of Slots

It was a tournament in which all (most?) of microgaming participated. Prizes paid out to many places and really high amounts. Last time, the winner got to a chance to spin for a million bucks on TSII.
It ran serveral months, so you could pick up qualifying tickets in various turnies at several casinos. Lotta hype, lotta fun.

...and load of crap.

The top prize was unwinnable because it was for getting all possible winning combinations on the slot during the tournament. The problem was that unlike the actual game, your achievments got wiped every rebuy, and with only 5 continues, it was effectively impossible to win the million Euros. The prizes that were won were a small fraction of what was in the pot for the first Grand Slam, where the million dollar prize was for the highest overall score, and WAS won by one lucky player. Version 2 was designed so that MGS could advertise a massive €1 million, yet more or less rely on not having to pay it out.

oh, granted, the top prize WAS crap, but the payout prizes were good. And if memory serves, the maximum you could buy-in was $100; I knew a couple people made some decent coin (several hundreds) on the turney

...per casino. Remember, MGS changed the rules for the first one so that players could have a different alias at each MGS casino. The dedicated player could have almost 100 attempts!

True. But if you ranking at one, you could devote devote the 100 there for place. So another player say, couldnt keep adding to their score past 100 bucks, unless they started from scratch.
I'm always amazed by the idiots who play turnies and spend 300 to win a 100 max prize
