The Team will be at Foxwoods tonight.
Event Details:
POST-SEASON PARTY
8pm Grand Ballroom - Post Season Celebration
Date: Fri, Feb 8, 2008
Time: 07:00 PM
Guests: 4
And I had to take the night off for this I hope it's worth it lol

No I'm not a Jesse James relative but..

just wondering, as many times as I have been to both Foxwoods and the Mohegan, I have never seen a Brinks truck, or even anything resembling an armored car anywhere on the property. Must be very hush hush method of removing the enormous amounts of cash from the casinos to the bank.
Just something I think about now and then (lol).

lol I heard a rumor once that Foxwoods does not have armer trucks.
They have a type of vehicle that they own that does the job.
It it don't look like any type of truck.
The loading area is in some part of the garage to get to that area.

The first concert in the MGM Grand will be on May 23,24,25
Gloria Estefan
In the MGM Theater

Looks very classy to me..

Sorry PingPong, not answering for Bingo T/Tom...just adding my 2 cents worth to the topic.
I haven't been to Foxwoods very often since the Mohegan opened. The Mohegan is about 15 mins closer for me and I seem to lose less often at the Mohegan. And the Mohegan has a gas station where I can fuel up using my comp points...even if it is nearly $4.00 a gal. there. Though I should point out Foxwoods does sell gasoline cards you can purchase with comp points and use at Exxon/Mobil or Citgo? stations anywhere.

BingoT, how do you think the new MGM Grand will be?
Well I like to give you an update on the MGM Grand At Foxwoods.
The Grand Opening is on May 17th for some special people.(Me) lol
invitation only And I was asked.and two guest to attend.
They really want the MGM to focus on the young 21 to 50 crowd. This is what I heard.

Hi Tom

I visited Foxwoods on Tuesday, for the first time since last summer. The area keeps changing so fast...couldn't believe the huge changes on Rt. 2 itself. What a monstrous project. Looks like they are getting ready for an even larger influx of traffic. I was only in the casino for about an hour then went over (home?) to Mohegan. Anyway I left there with a nice feeling...knowing that I had helped them buy maybe 1 small door or window for the new expansion.

lol Richtree7 Better Luck next time my friend.
For all the bus trips I have done for them in the past 19 years I think I own at least the parking lot near the two trees lol Lighting and all.
Oh yes rt2 on the side of the golf course.
It's going to be an express way after it's all done.
And I heard this new express way is going to be for buses to get in and out of Foxwoods.
I will be going soon again to pick up my free gas card and my free week stay

I hope so lol
I know it's going to be a privilege for me to be part of this grand opening that's for sure.I know the rooms for the MGM are at like $200 + a night.I can't wait for this Red Carpet event.
Thank God i'm only 55 mins away
I'm off tonight and going down for alittle action.

I went to Foxwoods last night and I heard a good one lol and that Foxwoods will turn into a Shopping Mall lol in two years.
Foxwoods is In The Red
They gave out well over 40 Mil in Dec.
I will look into it more.
This past Dec they gave out more comps than expected to all the players and me and the wife got ours over $1000.00.
And they got rid of all the high people that were on the board.
I will have to talk to my High People that I know that's for sure to get to the bottom of this one.

Tom....

That sounds like a late April Fools joke. I doubt very much they are running low on cash. If Massachusetts ever accepts casino gambling they will have some competition to be concerned with...but I guess that isn't going to happen for some time now.

Here is something that was in The Hartford Courant today.

Foxwoods Dropping Wampum Card For Dream Card

Foxwoods Dream Card (Handout / April 15, 2008)

By MARK PETERS | Courant Staff Writer
April 16, 2008
Foxwoods is dropping its Wampum Card loyalty program after more than 15 years, and in its place will launch a new card next month designed to associate the casino more closely with MGM Mirage, its Las Vegas-based partner.
The new Dream Card, like its predecessor, can be used for complementary meals, hotel rooms and merchandise based on the amount a cardholder gambles. Credits on the new card, however, also may be redeemed for gift cards that can be used at MGM Mirage casinos in Las Vegas, including the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay.
The change comes a month before Foxwoods is scheduled to open the new MGM Grand at Foxwoods, its first project in partnership with MGM Mirage. Although the Wampum Card is well-known among Foxwoods gamblers, the Dream Card is part of the new "Vegas-style" image Foxwoods is cultivating.
"A lot of deliberation" went into the change in card name, said Joseph Jimenez, senior vice president of casino marketing at Foxwoods. "It is a new era for Foxwoods. We need a brand that would reflect perfectly where we are headed."
The upscale MGM Grand at Foxwoods, next door to the existing Foxwoods casino, includes a new hotel tower, casino, entertainment and convention space, restaurants and shopping.
Foxwoods will launch the new card May 1 and send 320,000 of them to current customers in coming weeks. Wampum Card holders can continue to use their cards, and all current points will be transferred to the new program, Jimenez said.
The Dream Card doesn't allow customers at MGM casinos in Las Vegas to earn points to use at Foxwoods.
Despite the new name and new benefits, the Dream Card, like other customer loyalty programs, has a single purpose: Get people to come to the casinos more often, said Robert Shook, author of "Jackpot! Harrah's Winning Secrets for Customer Loyalty."
"The whole thing is to get more traffic into the casino," he said.
There are a few ways the cards help to do that. They provide an incentive for people to gamble more, they cross-promote casinos in different markets and they allow companies to track customer preferences, Shook said.

I wish MGM ran it.But they backed out of the deal so Foxwoods has full ownership of that place.

So is this still the case that "MGM backed out of the deal so Foxwoods has full ownership"....or is MGM really it's partner like stated in the article ???

Hell, I can get free stuff if they really do switch loyalty cards and MGM is running the place...:D

Foxwoods lays off

Foxwoods lays off nearly 200

Today is a Big Day at Mohegan Sun Casino.
Mohegan Sun Casino will open the Casino of the Wind today.
It will be a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, twenty eight tables games, 650 slot machines, and a forty two table poker room.

Today is going to be Hot with this opening and with a great concert tonight the Beach Boys & I have sand floor tickets.

The weekend after this I'm surprising my GF for her Birthday with a couple day trip to foxwoods (sep 19, 20 + 21). This will both of our 1st trips there. I'm 31 and she's 27. Anyone have any good tips for me? We'll primarily be playing table games. Best spot to hit? exciting things to do? places to avoid? any info would be very much appreciated as I was to make this a great weekend for her.

btw, I lived in Vegas for 4 years so I'm plenty familiar with casinos + gaming. Just not at all familiar with the CT casinos.

Hi Darko
Make sure you start off with a Dream Card for comp points at Foxwoods.
At Foxwoods for you I would start off with the MGM Grand because it's more geared I think in your age group.lol.
If you make the trip to the Mohegan Sun please take a look at the new area The Wind Casino.
If i'm down to the casinos that week just for Ha Ha pick up a house phone and have me paged (Say Tom BingoT) and if I am i'll see what I can do for ya.
The next bus trip I have is on Sat Sept 27th but I may go on my own from now until the trip I have.
Can I ask where you from? I'm only an hour away.
If I don't see ya I wish you the best of luck & have a blast.
Tom

I assume the Dream card is their players club? I'll definitely do that. After living in Vegas you know to always sign up for the players club lol.

We're staying at the Cedar Park Inn (free limo to the casino). I just couldnt justify the almost 800.00 staying on the foxwoods site was going to cost for 2 nights. That surprised me, since in vegas they tend to keep the prices down more to encourage people to stay at the casino.

How far is MS from there? And thanks for the MGM tip :)

And do you work there or something? lol

LOL I just run Junkets to both of the casinos for the past 20 years.
I mean Foxwoods for the past 20 and Mohegan Sun since they opened.
Mohegan Sun is only 15 mins away.
Yes the players card (Dream Card)
I wish you talked to me before I get rooms for $49.00 to $79.00 at both places but I need a month before hand.
Or sometimes I get afew for free. That's if my friends are in a good mood that month lol.

well then you're the right guy to get area tips from with that experience lol.

and omg I wish I had talked to you too! I was pretty shocked when I was calling to make reservations at the prices they had. I understand weekend rates go up, but with those rates you would think they're keeping people away.

If she has as much fun as Im expecting her to then we'll be going back and I'll get ahold of you well ahead of time lol :)

any who knows, maybe I'll have a good run and get comped a room on site one night. you never know:)

Thanks & yes im the guy lol
The rooms go at the MGM for $200+ and the others go from $149 to $200
And I seen them up to $400 on the grounds at times.
Well Good Luck to ya & have a Fun & Safe trip to the Worlds best two casinos.

Hi Tom

I was there at the Foxwoods MGM a few days ago (Wed.). It was about 9:30 a.m. and very quiet. Great for finding slot machines and available room at the craps table. I've been there on weekends and have seen lots more people there..especially on a Saturday night. Hope they can keep it going until economic times improve.
Also want to add, the available parking at the MGM is really easy and very close to the casino. From the several times I have been there since it opened, the self-parking garage has not even been close to full...even on Saturday evening. I can park the car, go down in the elevator and be on the casino floor within a minute or less. :)
Not usually the same easy parking and casino access at Foxwoods.

It's all fun
You can't gamble with real money on this site.
This has been around for awhile.
If you have a Dream Card put your info in.
You don't need a Dream Card to play.

I'm hitting Foxwoods next week from the 24th through the 27th while the WPT is in town. I'll be playing the $600 tourney on the 25th and cash games other times.

I can't stay for the whole series because I have work to do for the PokerNations venture. But I'm looking forward to enjoying my short stint there.

If anyone else will be around, maybe we can do dinner. :)

MONEY FOR STATE IN JEOPARDY?
Mohegans Fighting Proposed Smoking Ban

The Mohegan Indian tribe is threatening to withhold as much as $200 million in slot machine payments annually if the state legislature bans smoking at casinos, a potential major blow to the state budget.

In strongly worded letters to Gov. M. Jodi Rell and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, tribal officials said Wednesday that a pending bill to ban smoking at the state's two casinos is unconstitutional and would violate the compact between the Mohegan Tribe and the state

Largest Indian Casino Struggling With Debt
(Foxwoods Resort Casino)

MASHANTUCKET, Conn. -- The worlds largest Indian gaming casino is juggling a known debt of $1.4 billion.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation has a loan payment due Tuesday and members of the tribe met Monday to discuss the situation.

Foxwoods Resort Casino is one of the largest casino destinations in the world and is owned by the Mahantucket Pequot Tribe and partners with MGM in the MGM Grand Casino on the sprawling reservation in Ledyard.

The downturn in the economy has had a tremendous impact on the gaming industry. In July, the casino said slot revenue dropped 13 percent compared to a year ago.

Mashantucket Pequots Put Council Chairman On Administrative Leave
The Mashantucket Pequots have forced their council chairman into an administrative leave amid financial and management turmoil at the tribe's Foxwoods Resort Casino.

The tribal council that oversees the parent organization of Foxwoods and the MGM Grand at Foxwoods did not say why it placed Michael Thomas on leave. The move comes as Foxwoods continues to see declines in slot machine revenue and less than a week after The New London Day reported that a "senior adviser" to the tribe said the tribe was trying to renegotiate $2.3 billion in debt and was at risk of defaulting on the terms of a $700 million line of credit.

Everything is certainly changing and not for the better in CT. I went to the University of Hartford and was a regular at Foxwoods. It is a bit crowded at times but I always preferred it instead of Mohegan Sun. Don't know why just did.
