Thanks Babs,

The first one suits me well. My father is Shanghainese while my mother is Cantonese. I usually speak Cantonese in my place It's the 1st day of the Lunar Year here and I am doing quite well with a Ist place win in the Battlefield freeroll, getting a free seat in the $20 000 Weekender tourney at MG and a 2nd place in a small MG free tourney. All in the past 24 hours.

For all my friends, I ask them to wish me "Gou Ma Hang tung" which means doing well at the dog and horse races (only the latter exists here though):D:D

SW is right. You can PM me at chuchu59.

Meanwhile a Gung Hay Fat Choy to all at this forum. May we have numerous winner screenshots and that those exiled can make a return to these pastures. Sigh!

Kung Hei Fat Choi to everyone!

Nice post, Babs :) BTW, Sun Nin Fai Lok is actually Cantonese , and Xin Nien Kuai Le is Mandarin ;)

Whatever - as long as everyone has a prosperous year, I think we'll all be happy!

Chuchu - Macau again later this month - you available?

ChuChu?

Did you get your little red packet with money in it? My brother has been doing this for his employees and said that you guys get the whole week off. He is really enjoying this custom. It's his 3rd one

Ah, I forgot it was the chinese new year. The year of the rat:D

It used to be a big thing at the local casinos but Ive not been around lately

We call that lucky money where the parents give these 'lai see' packets to their children and the bosses to their subordinates. I get the first 3 days of the Lunar New Year off but since the 3rd is a Saturday which I am off anyway, I only get 2 days off extra.

Actually, I hardly receive any red packets because of my age. Rather, I give them away to my son and other kids.

EY CHU YOU BET ON THE HORSES ALSO, I LOVED IT WHEN MY LOCAL OTB HAD HONG KONG RACING AFTER MIDNIGHT IT ALWAYS PAYS WELL

The standard of horseflesh has improved enormously in the past decade with the likes of Silent Witness and Vengeance of Rain. The former has been retired about a year ago and the latter a week ago due to a second recurrence of heart irregulaity. It does pay well especially if you try a small bet at all-up win or quinella. The bad thing about it is that the Hong Kong Jockey Club only offers rebates of 10% of losing bets to those who wager $10000 (USD $1260 approx. ) on a single bet so the small-timers lose out in the long run. Maybe your OTB is more generous if they dont have the overhead costs or are the payouts linked to the Hong Kong totalisator?

Yeah, if you are interested we can always chat about it in the Sports Section. We have another big meeting tomorrow with 11 races. Good luck mate.

I didnt know you lived in Thailand SM, My brother and his family love going on holiday weekends. There is a four seasons that they love. You get your own butler who makes your meals and they have their own pool. He took my dad but my PC crashed and i lost the pics. I also had a friend who moved there for a couple of years to teach. They love Shanghai China the best out of all the cities in China as well as visiting Thailand

It's real cool to hear about the work customs as well. My brother had this meeting with a minister and he said they have this huge horseshoe table when they meet and its very formal and official. My brother and the minister were at the top and each team had their own side both with translators. The custom is to drink this tea that has the leaves in it and it gets stuck in his teeth lol. He's the one in front pointing, not the guy in back

Thailand is a nice place to live. There are a few Four Seasons in Thailand - do you remember which place he visited?

As usual, I messed up LOL

They went to Bali that time it wasnt the four seasons in Thailand. Im sorry. My brother wants to take full advantage of being in Singapore for 5 years so they have been traveling extensivly through Asia and Australia anytime they get a chance. Ill have to ask him where in Thailand besides Phuket(sp) they visit. They do go there on long weekends alot

SM
do you have interest in Kamalaya? I asked him if he stayed there and it peaked his interest lol. I gave him your website thats under your name for him to check it out. He loves resorts, especially if there's golf!

I bloody wish! LOL... I had a special contract with Kamalaya when a close friend took over as Director of Sales and Marketing there. Although she's no longer there, I still believe Kamalaya is indeed a spa of the future, having visited there myself.

However, I do own a travel agency specializing in Thailand. If your brother would like good golf and good spas, etc, feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help.

Gary - LOL. Even I forgot my own blog... just when I thought 888 had regained a good reputation - but let's wait and see what transpires, I am not sure just how closely connected 888 and Kamay are. I only just read the thread for the first time a couple of minutes ago and I must say I was aghast...
