Favourite film opening/endings

Can't see a thread with this, so just thought I'd chuck this in here.

One of my favourite film endings ever - Steve Martin and John Candy with a classic 80's tune to boot.

Maybe not one of the greatest films ever even though directed by an absolute legend, this opening scene is absolutely sublime. The aerial shot of NYC (which I've only ever visited once and that was in 1987) gets me every time and with the legendary Carly Simon at the mic, just wow.

I decided to watch this again a few weeks ago - if you're in to 80s fashion, this is a must see. The hair dos, clothes, just brilliant memories.

The best of all the Rocky's in my opinion - Rocky 2 (Rocky 1 being an extremely close second)!!!!

My favourite film ending is Shawshank Redemption. It's great because it doesn't need any words. The music accompanying the moment they spot each other on the beach is just fantastic. They really nailed that film in every aspect.

The Planes, Trains and Automobiles ending is really lovely as well. It's a perfect film for the holiday season, year after year. The freeze-frame on John Candy's face before the credits roll is also used in Uncle Buck and because he died not long after those two films a lot of people find it very emotive, and it's easy to see why.

If only most movies just gave a brief synopsis then skipped to the ending then family movies would be so much more fun
