Just wondering if, when playing at a casino that provides an online chat facility, e.g. 3Dice/JackpotParty, do you join in or ignore?

I play for entertainment and relaxation, but all my energy is focused on playing, thinking about what game to switch to, bet size, etc. I really don't have the inclination to join in idle chat with other players. I find it too distracting.

Ditto when I used to play at B&M casinos in the UK. I would get resentful when other players would come and watch my game play, and strike up conversations. I would respond, while privately wishing they were on the dark side of the moon. :o

Perhaps I am the Player from Hell, even though I try always to be courteous and polite. But whatever, online chat sessions drive me scatty.

Disclaimer: I don't have an account at 3Dice, but I know they have the online chat facility.

So...any comments?

You aren't alone juiceyfruit ;), I too find the chat much too distracting, unless it's on bingo of course

Nice to here that there are more boring people like me:p
I'm so scared of chatting. I don't even talk to live-chat in a casino if I don't have to. Someone asked me the other day if I have MSN:eek:
I'm really a social creature in normal life. Never afraid of talking to people.
So why am I so afraid of writing talking to people directly? I have no idea;)

I don't like live chat as you play.
I am playing to win something.
If I want to chat with someone I would go to some sort of chat room.
And I am not in that chit-chat anyways as you go.
But I will talk on the phone for hours
~T~

I think sometimes, that it's harder to get emotions across through typing ;)

I don't play at online casinos that have chat, for the most part anyway. When I play it's to try and double or triple my deposit as fast as I can and get out!

This is about the only place I have ever done any chatting at online because this is the best place to chat anywhere on the internet! IMHO

I use the chat available at 3Dice quite a bit.

I think its a great idea, it gives you direct contact with the CS team, and you also get to know the CS reps a lot better as most of the time they interact with players and show they are still human, whilst still being professional.

While playing I don't find it too distracting. When playing for real I am more concentrated on my spins than anything but still pop in to say something every now and then, when playing tournaments I am in there more and set tournament spins to auto play, so it does take out the boring factor of the spins.

I have met some great people via being on 3Dice chat also which is a bonus. I guess its each to there own but I find it unique and enjoy it alot.

I cannot comment on Jackpot Party as I cannot play there.

Hey everyone. I have chatted very little in 3dice chat. I have tried to include myself in the conversations but I have gotten ignored. I dont feel included so I stopped chatting. One time I thanked a player for starting a tourney and I got laughed at. I felt so small, so I dont chat. It seems to me that there are a small handful of the veteran players that only include them that chat, they dont seem to want to get to know the newer players, and again this is why I have decided to stop chatting. :(

I'm with Matt on this one. I love the chat feature on 3dice. It makes playing tourneys more pleasurable and I have met some awesome people on there, and of course some not so pleasant ones as well. I participate in all chat games (added benefit) and if I am winning in real I do tons of extras for the peeps in chat. If you need help from support they are there to help. Sometimes I do find it a little distracting when I am playing, but it comes with the territory I guess :p

Hi Carly, sorry to hear about your experience in chat. I believe I helped you with one of the tourneys one night that you won, Hobo I think it was. Just start chatting that is what I did when I first joined, was ignored at first and I pushed my way through and now I can't stop chatting lol. Hope to see you chatting soon ;)

i'm with blonde and matt at 3 dice i think there chat is very valuable as a tool about your game play as a player can inquire directly to the casino manager and owener and staff about any mattert of money or tech stuff

the social aspect is a great thing all casinos should have IMHO, and all poker rooms on line have chat in real time at the tables with observer's able to chime in

and chat isen't mandatory so what prompted this thread

:) im prolly the shyest guy there and i love it :)

Yeah you did, and yes I read chat all the time. I am a bit shy so that could be it too lol. I do have some mental issues LOL and I isolate myself from the world, so online stuff works for me. I will try to involve myself more. I didnt mean to bash anyone in 3dice chat, and I am sorry if I did, I was just explaining how i felt. You all seem like really good people. And I also feel 3dice is the best casino :) I am happy to have found it. :)

Sorry for the slight derail, I have noticed an alarming trend in people I speak to here in PM`s etc that have isolated themselves from the world and obviously take up gambling as a form of escapism, as you are a psychology student you may have some insight in this?:).

And nope, I never use chat when playing slots etc, i`m way to shy :o.

But I will talk on the phone for hours

Ha! Me too. I think my record so far has been 6 hours on the phone to my sister in Oz. Also, the day job means that I am in conf calls and IM chats all day long, so that might be why I avoid this type of thing when I am 'off-duty'.

That sounds like one of the greatest benefits of online chatting. However the sheer banality of some of the conversations is a turn off, but this could be because I don't ever seem to get past discussing the weather...:D And yet, in the day job, I am brilliant at building virtual relationships. Strange,eh.

Oh Carly, I really feel for you. I think to join in online chat you need a very thick skin at the beginning, then just keep pushing your way in until eventually you become one of the 'veteran players'.

However, having said that, sometimes the cliques are so strong there is no room for outsiders. And the members of the cliques can have such an arrogant attitude that to even to attempt to join in incurs their wrath and scorn.

But there are plenty of good people out there, so please don't stop trying.

What casinos actually have real time chat, other than 3Dice and JackpotParty? Anyone know?

And do casino managers interract with players during real time chats? I have only seen players involved in the chat, with a very rare interruption by the casino host. In fact, exactly who does take part in these realtime chats?

Perhaps I am weird, but in all the time I have been playing online, I have only ever needed to contact CS to ensure no bonuses are ever added to my account. So all comments about wonderful support, great managers, etc, simply pass me by.

:( Huh? Is there some sort of limitation as to what can be discussed on this forum?

The main reason was curiosity as to what people get out of real time chat.

And I also thought it was quite an interesting subject, so there!!

I am not a particularly 'social ' gambler. I don't like people chatting with me while I'm at a B&M playing, nor do I want to chit chat with strangers in online casino chat. For those that like it, fine. I don't. But I hate things like Facetwit, etc., too.

I also hated live online BJ due to the fact that people were always trying to talk/chat with me while I was trying to play.

When I'm playing, I need what few brain cells I have left to be fully functional and focused. I don't drink, I don't chit chat. I'm busy. :)

I dont like to engage in live chat either but at a B&M casino ,especially at Paigow all the players at the table chat about almost anything. I have met celebrities there and loved talking with them. We also talk a lot whilst playing mahjong as its a form of social activity. Actually, I do much better when I am allowed to chat during live games though not online chat.

I love the chat feature at 3Dice. Talk is generally superficial, and that's probably how it should be. There's a lot of humour usually, and we can all use a laugh.

I've gotten to "know" a few people in more depth through private messages over there, and I've had the pleasure of meeting up with a few members in real life as well. I hope to meet a few more in the future.

I was quite ill and housebound when I began gambling online, and that human interaction kept me sane I think. Well, not entirely, but you can't blame 3Dice for that, lol. There's been a lot of people lend me an ear when I needed one, and for that I am truly grateful.

I will sometimes not chat, and particularly if I am playing in real. I usually do if I am in tourney mode though. I am guilty of walking away from the computer to tend to real life and leaving chat open, so if you ever speak to me and I don't answer, I'm AWOL, not deliberately rude.

If anyone is a little shy, please feel free to message me over there, I'll do my best to help if you need it.

 Yeah me too. :p
I don't use the chat much at 3Dice, occasionally I'll PM Anna or Ellen and once in a blue moon I'll pop in when I'm playing a tourney and yak a bit - depends on who's there and what they're talking about. I never use it when I'm playing for real though.

When i played at GoWild casino, i played multi player wheel of whealth, and there chatted with guy who was from Belgium, we chatted about few hours, and that was interesting and nice ;)

I close live chat as soon as it pops up at 3Dice in the free tourneys - it's irritating to look at even if it's off to the side. Not that I'm antisocial but when I want to play, that's all I want to do.

Plus I got burned out on chatting years ago. Hell, I hate to live chat with casinos (except 3Dice support) because it's usually so slow that you have to wonder if the person on the other end slipped into a coma.

I love the chat room at 3dice, have met some great people through talking. It is surprising how much you can have in common. Carly, I am so sorry that chat went that way for you. I remember when I first started chat I felt odd like the odd girl out however I am a talker so I just started talking. I am butterflyboogie there too so if you see me just hollar at me. If for some reason I don't answer its because I am paying a lot of attention to the game. I keep chat open and drop in and out so I'll try and see you. Iluvslots is usually in the chat room and she is super friendly, as jasmine, chocmartin and a while lot of others are. Just start talking...we all like to talk :D Hope to see you soon!

I'd chat with folks- But I'm a social guy! :D

None of the casinos I play on allow for chat, though.

I did have an idea that would take this one step further- I imagine its only a matter of time before it happens anyways.

An actual virtual casino. You can walk around if you want- chat if you want. Get a room and play by yourself if you want!

And then, when you're bored, use some of those comp points that are left over from being converted to cash to dress up your Avatar or change your room around, get special little things to do.

Not a complete idea, yet. But I think it work well in like Korea. :)

I personally think there are benefits to the chat facility in some online casinos. At Jackpot Party, we encourage our players to celebrate their wins with the ambition to build a community of avid slot players. It's also another avenue for us to gain insight on our players and find out ways in which we can do things better. As some of you mentioned, it's not always preferrable to click on the Live Chat button and speak with CS. The game chat allows players to converse with each other and brings light to the casino on topics that aren't being directly highlighted to their CS teams. Jackpot Party in particular also use the game chat to run random promos and give away exclusive prizes. So if you haven't yet...get involved!

P.s. You can hide the game chat window if you wish to focus on the awesome features of our Jackpot Party games ;)

I enjoy the chat at 3 D occasionally, but mainly when playing tourneys and I kind of take it by spurts. I might not say anything for days then have a hour or two where I chat up a storm. It is kind of a clique over there but just jump in.

OK those of you that know me know I'm a 3dice chatter. Let me point out some of the good - then some of the bad-

1. When your playing in tourney mode- it helps pass the time. I go auto and start chatting away.
2. I've met some wonderful people from all around the world chatting. (I've gotten interesting recipes and learned some historical facts).
3. Many times the staff or Reps at 3dice will do special games in chat- or throw a quickie tournament.
4. Many times us gamblers will cross reference gaming news that we have heard.
5. Many times we will meet up on the new game ISS to play.
6. With 3dice chat you can see the games that are hitting and some will try there luck on that.

I look at it as if im spending a hour 2 or 3 online - I might as well make it as fun as I can.

Now to the new people who feel they are being ignored. You need to understand something-

Chat goes by very fast sometimes- especially on weekends. There could be 5 different conversations going on at one time- you may think someone was laughing at you but they were probably talking to some one else.
Also when you are new you do not have a pic up- it is very hard to see you chatting sometimes. You get kinda squished up between chat lines. If ever you feel you are being ignored Start you sentence with a cap letter - it helps to see you better.
I know when we see new people that I and other members will try to say hello and get them chatting. It can be confusing for first timers and we understand that.

NOW the Bad
Sometimes you just don't like someone in chat- I catch my breath a couple of times because someone says something I just can't agree with ( you learn )
Sometimes it does get hectic or uncool in there- someone is bitching about something
Sometimes people can learn things about you because you typed something (like a store name ) and they get more info then you want them to have lol

There are times I stay out of chat- and when I play in real I have chat open and will only type if I need to take a break .

THE BEST THING ABOUT CHAT IS WHEN YOU HIT YOU HAVE PEOPLE IN THERE REMINDING YOU TO CASH OUT- LOCK IT UP- DON'T GET CRAZY- YOUR AHEAD STOP FOR AWHILE

I know every true gamer understands that line.

One other point about chat- I know if a casino has live chat available its a decent casino -reputable casino- you can't hide the truth in live chat- \\

And Carly come back to 3dice chat look for me - I'll introduce you around - give it a chance hun it is a lot of fun. \

CHOCMARTINI /Cpdnd31

I used to chat in 3dice chat. Then one day I got for 3 months for doing far less than I've seen many people do many times over without getting banned at all. But then it's not really what you do or say, it's who you know and how much you spend.
