Do any of you have a pattern/system that you religiously follow playing slots?

I thought this would get some interesting responses. I have a pattern that I never shy away from when playing slots, call its Obsessive compulsive I guess but it is a very disciplined system that I follow. Here is what I do on a normal day lets say for example on a RTG site.

1) Deposit $50. Never more or less, always $50

2) Anytime I have .50 - $48 in my account, i spin for $.50 ....... $49- $99, I spin for $1 a spin, $100-$199, $2 a spin, and $200-$400, i will take a shot and spin for $5 (or 6.25 depending on the slot) a spin. Anytime I get it to $500, I am cashing out and leaving $50 to play with. Sometimes if a bonus round takes me from say $350 up to around $700, I will play it down to $600 then cash out. Seems a bit anal, yes i know, but I have gambled long enough to know if you gamble every single day, you have to be disciplined.

3) Celebrate my cashout and head to the local pub for a few cold ones with friends :drink:

That's just bankroll management, no real "system" or anything....and the risk of ruin in your above example is very high....:) But hey, whatever works!!

and/or as the OP mentions discipline (which is included but not limited to managing one's bankroll)...:nod:

Very curious as to why you think my risk of ruin is very high? Over the last 2 years on Riverbelle, I have had roughly 8k in purchases each year, and 2 years ago, 18k in cashouts, and last year 21k in cashouts. 3 years ago, I lost $4200, so no I am not winning every year but last 2 outta 3 were nice . Granted, I do play more video poker on that site because it was microgaming until recently. I dont care for RTG video poker although i havent given it a fair chance just yet.

Edit: I do play alot of craps as well, best odds of any game, and have had some nice hits there too.

When playing slots I take whatever my starting bankroll is and divide by 1000. That is my max bet initially. People who bet $1 on a $100 bankroll risk early ruin. ;)

Because betting like you had explained in your first post on slots will just leave you high and dry in the long run. You mentioned nothing about Craps, VP, or any other game. That's what I was basing my reply on.

Don't change the rules (or parameters) in the middle of a convo!

But anyways,

Of course your risk of ruin is going to be a huge % if you only leave yourself (at most) 100 bets. At worst, you only have 50 bets! It's nothing to go 100+ spins and only end up with a 50% RTP...in most cases, the RTP% is definitely influenced by hitting a good bonus round/free spins...and I've seen some slots go 500+ spins before hitting a feature, so it's definitely not uncommon. If you sit around and wait for big line wins, most of the time you're just going to go broke :)

I increase my wager per spin as my balance increases as well but I never bet more than a buck or a buck and a quarter. Seems to be my luck everytime I go over that nickle a line the game gets pissy with me. I can win enough to keep me happy at a buck a spin. I drop to a coin per line usually at 20 or 25 bucks. Depends how soon I don't mind going broke.

had a lot of success recently just aiming for a small profit on each deposit and trying to discipline myself hit that withdrawal button.I usually go for
a £25 profit irrespective of the deposit size.seems to work quite well until
I get into loss chasing mode and blow half the profits from the last few sessions.

And FWIW, Blackjack, with the right house rules, has the lowest HA - not craps. :)

Craps is and always will be the best odds a gambler can have in a casino.

Taking my favorite Vegas flavor rules @ Double Deck BJ:

2 Decks, Dealer stands on s17, Double on any 2 cards, split to 3 hands, no double after split, 3:2 BJ:

Optimal results: 0.32457% Realistic results: 0.40157%

I'm not much of a craps man, but if his numbers are so skewed for blackjack, I wouldn't really trust his craps numbers, either...

The true "authoritative" site for gambling odds is definitely @

. I wouldn't go anywhere else. :)

ps: I've been playing blackjack for the most part of 17 years, so I'm definitely not fresh off the turnip truck. ;)

Me being a craps player, I dont care for blackjack :) I thought .80 was off but off in a way that it wouldnt even be close to craps. Bottom line is the casino cant control the dice or cards in blackjack, but that deck has only so many faces and aces, as opposed to dice where any 2 dice equal 7 on any roll at any time. If you visit landbased casinos, I recommend giving it a shot, but reading up on it 1st. Had many a nights starting with $200 and rolled up to 5-6k in no time on a hot table.

Yep, I do like craps every now and then, but my bankroll doesn't allow me to play it that often. Since I turned 21, I think I've played maybe a handful of times....and I'm 38, now. :)

The last time I played craps, the table I was at was on a helluva run. This one shooter had to have rolled at least 25 straight points. By the time he was done, I, along with several others, won $1250 off of a $5 fire bet, alone! We were ONE point away from walking away with $5,000; but the last point to be made in the fire bet was the dreaded 10, and he just couldn't get that point on the come...iirc, he finally 7'd out on a 9.

It was pretty sick. I was at one of the corners of the table, and I had both rails filled up with chips. One was black + green, and the other had a little spillover of green, combined with red & white chips....I ended up tipping the dealers a black when I finally left with over $3,500.

It was amazing :notworthy

btw, this was at Bill's Gamblin Hall and Saloon -

But, hell...I was there for 5 days that trip, and I went home with around $7k. When I got there, I had $150 to gamble with for a 5 day trip. I started playing Blackjack @ $10/hand and just kept winning. Best trip ever! I just couldn't lose.....and even if I did lose, I made it up in no time. Like one night, I dropped $1k at Caesars, but the next morning, I won $1,900 at the Flamingo....:D It's the runs that you wish would never end, and keep pinching yourself so you know you're not dreaming. ;)

but anyways, [/derail]

Nice winbig, like hearing winners stories like that. I am 37 myself so we are a year apart. Where in PA are you? Just wondering, I am in Ohio but I live exactly 53 minutes from the PA border and have been to Erie a few times, they have table games coming in couple weeks, should be fun.
