After one particularly bad day at school, a young man returns to his home on the farm. He's upset! Fuming. Just pissed.
He stalks through the farm yard and kicks a chicken, hoping it would ease his anger. It didn't- so he went right ahead and kick the pig!
Nope. He was still upset. The young man crosses the farmyard again- stopping near the family cow, Bessie, giving her a mighty kick! She runs off, clearly unhappy with the recent turn of events.
Finally, the young man heads towards his house- only to be met on the porch by his mother, and stopped right in his tracks. She had seen the whole thing.:
"Son," she said. "We all get upset sometimes, but taking it out on others is unacceptable. So, since you kicked the Chicken- you won't be allowed to eat chicken or eggs for an entire week. Since you kicked the pig, I won't be serving you pork-chops tonight or bacon in the morning- also for a week. And since you kicked the cow? No milk or beef for a week. Now, it looks like your paw is coming in from the fields. Wait here to see if he needs any help with the truck."
Indeed, at that moment the Farmer arrived in that beat up old pickup-truck. He'd had a horrible day, just like his son.The farmer had even begun to think that Murphy gentleman was an optimist- and to make things worse the farm's black cat decided at that moment to waltz in the path of the farmer.
So the Farmer kicked the cat. The Son looked over to his mother and and asked: "Do you want to tell him, or should I?"
