Earth, man!
Alright peeps, i'm planning a trip to the Dam for plenty of smoke :D and hopefully some playing. I was wondering if anyone knows the locations of any good casinos, lush and exclusive or of significant size with a good game selection. I will probably stay in the vacinity of the casino so any hotel recomendations would be good too :D

Thanks

There's a small and largely crap one in Amsterdam Schippol airport if that helps ;) I think there is one directly between the Krasponolsky hotel and the station (about 5 minutes walk) too.

Hello BubbleG

The main one is the Holland Casino just off Leidseplein in Amsterdam. Ive been there many times, you just need your passport to get in. I was usually stoned out of my face everytime I went, so cant remember much, but you will definitely have a good time. I used to go in the good ol' Dutch Guilder days!!

E N J O Y!!!!

Actually, the one in Amsterdam isn't quite between the Krasnopolski and the station - it's the other direction :) If you follow the tram tracks from the station straight up the middle, you will eventually see the Holland Casino on your left side. Hopping on that tram might be better, though... LOL... or grab a cab, it's only a few minutes by car.

You will need to obtain a membership - and then pay an entrance fee (7 Euro last I remember, but it could have gone up).

They have a few other branches in other cities, as well as the airport, and they are the only licensed full casinos in the Netherlands. Alternately, you could go into one of the arcades and play either Dutch fruit machines, or machine-based roulette, but for low stakes.

The casino at the airport is not a good idea unless you feel like throwing away your money, or bucking higher odds (the roulette is double zero and the minimum bet is 10 Euros). The slots are also quite tight there.

(edit - CheekyMonkey's got it!)

2 mins walk from the Krasnopolsky and the Jolly Hotel Carlton where i stayed last week...decent hotels both.

The Marriott is literally directly opposite the casino, and is also very well-located for museums (short walk/tram to the South), and for nightlife (to the North). You can get it pretty cheap off Priceline, but beware of the crappy Le Meridien they also sell.

There is nowhere else apart from the airport.

I have been to Holland casino and its a nice casino with buzz but!!! its the first time in my career as a gambler that i felt that the blackjacks automatic shuffler was cheating me/us! It was like the 6 decks were manipulated by the staff in order to have more small cards than tens. I went there 3 nights in a row and I/we at the table got a beat as we never have had before. The dealer 70% of the time wouldn't bust on 15/16. Next time i'll request that they spread the decks on the table so we can all see that they are in order . Am telling you it wasn't normal..... and it's the first time i say this about a landbased casino. By the way it's worth visiting the famous naughty street......;) as we all have visited, haven't we just out of curiosity?:D

Here's a pic I took since I seem to be attracted to casinos(Wanna end up having one).

Great pic gfkostas!

Just opposite is the Marriott Hotel, which is where I normally stay. I love Amsterdam. I was there at xmas, but it was an office party so unfortunately did not have time to visit the casino this time. However as spearmaster quite rightly pointed out, the Dutch love their slots and there are lots of small amusement arcades dotted all over the place.

I did however visit the casino in Schipol. I wouldn't really call it a casino though. It's more like what you find at motorway service station in the UK. However, they do have a couple of roulette tables. I won on the 5 reel slots (hit the free spin feature twice) and hit a couple of 4OAK on the VP which paid for loads of duty free. I think I was up about EUR300. I only won, because I was in a rush and didn't have time to blow the money back. :D :D

I live in utrecht but i go on many trips to amsterdam

Holland casino is the main casino off course and staying across the street(parc) at the NH hotel i can definitly recommend.

this hotel is at
NH Amsterdam Centre
Stadhouderskade, 7, Amsterdam

i stayed here once and i can reccomend this one

One last tip
On the rembrandtquare there is also a casino which i visited once (this is not owned by holland casino) it was fun but for luxury i definitly recommend holland casino.

And please stay away from the many fruitmachinearea's in the city itself
they are a ripoff

Didn't see that:mad: I could have visited it....

Holland casino is great and with youngsters inside as opposed to London casinos but be aware of their BJ game:cool:

If you stay at a hotel they usually give you free entry vouchers so don't forget to ask the reception.

Good tip!! I hoped I'd never have to pay to enter a casino :D

Yea, a fee to enter a casino is COMPLETELY ridiculous. It is also ridiculous to get charged for soft drinks and things like that.
My hotel did provide me with many entry vouchers:D

A good marketing idea would be to give each person a free joint as they enter and allow them to smoke it in the casino.

That would do wonders for getting action (not to mention all the food they would sell :D )

Until people started sleeping on the blackjack tables :)
