Casino advertising

It's actually disgusting how ubiquitous gambling is becoming in the UK. Can't walk more than two minutes down any street without passing a bookies, can't watch TV without being bombarded with gambling advertisements, same goes for browsing the internet.

I have to wonder, though - how effective are gambling advertisements for people who don't already gamble? Surely the promise of a 100% match-up bonus isn't all that enticing to someone who thinks it's a mug's game anyway? I guess they're effective in building brand name awareness for people who already gamble.

Personally, I think there needs to be much tighter regulations on the promotion of gambling. Writing "play responsibly" or including a Gamcare phone number isn't cutting it.

We very rarely have the telly on in our house, if I do ever watch anything it's usually after the family is in bed on Netflix/DVD/BBCiPlayer etc.

However, I had a mate visiting a couple of months back and there was some stuff he wanted to watch of an evening, so we had the telly on.

I was fucking appalled at the prevalence of gambling adverts. In fact, pretty much every advert was for booze or gambling.

They use familiar faces as well, Ray Winstone was all over the place.

Poor show.
