Some years ago we tried several online casinos and found Captain Cooks and was the best ever until it was destroyed by Casino rewards . Captain Cook's was the closest to a land based casino that we ever found with very fair pay-out percentages . We have since contacted several CM accredited casinos and one of the " best " listed made a point that it is " entertainment " . Captain cook was a gamble , but was not simply a donation for amusement purposes
( entertainment ) . We have stayed away , but would love to play online once again if we could find a really good casino with a truly fair gambling experience . Badly skewed " random generators " toward the casino simply ruin the expereince and alienate those of us who would like to gamble online .

We would like to know if the same group who had Captain Cook when we played are involved with any online Casino now ? They were wonderful and had the best support team ever . E-mails were answered within 5 minutes and Western Union deposits were credited to our accounts with 5-10 minutes of e-mailing the confirmation number . They added 15% to funds deposited via Western Union ( not a silly bonus that had to be run through a ridiculous number of times ) and paid withdrawals via cashier's check within 8 days .

If anyone knows if this group has an online casino now we would love to know .

Ahhhh...those were the days.

I used to love Captain Cooks, and you're right....they did have great service and excellent bonuses and very fast payouts.

Unfortunately, those were the good ol' days when bonuses had no playthrough (like the 15% WU one) or like 5xD+B. Interestingly, I think I actually played beyond those requirements very regularly, whereas now I get out ASAP before I give any more of my winnings back!

As a US player, you cannot play Microgaming as you know. Also, I am not aware of the old owners of CC casino being involved elsewhere, but the best person to ask is Bryan or Max (Simmo! or jetset might know too).

I will flag this post for Bryan for you and hopefully he can assist :)

It is funny you posted that, I just now checked my email and I had one from CaptainCooks casino. Here is the text of it:

Congratulations Lori,

I am thrilled to bring you this official notice which confirms The Captains Finance Committee's certification of Lori as a guaranteed eligible candidate. This is not in error. If you submit the winning check in accordance with the official rules you are guaranteed a prize award.

Even now Lori, you probably thought this could never happen, that you could become One of the Captains Winners. But it's absolutely true: ALL Prizes won in the Captains WRITE-A-CHECK RANDOM SWEEPSTAKES are 100% Claimable and guaranteed to be redeemed by the confirmed winners.

Congratulations and be sure to redeem this check before the 24 hours is up, otherwise the next eligible candidate will be contacted.

Now I am the US also but on the bottom of the email it has the flags of the countries it accepts, and low and behold USA is not one of them.

I have never heard of them until your post, but I didn't know they were part of Casino Rewards. It states nothing of Casino Rewards in the e-mail.

Thanks

Hi LHofsdal & Nifty 29 ,

That is funny that you heard from Captain Cook . I do wonder who has that casino now ? last I heard Casino rewards had them and I want no part of them .

Thank you Nifty 29 for offfering to flag my post . I do wonder if the good owners of CC are still in the business . I would trust them unless they too have fallen into the " greed trap " !! We really did like their Microgaming .

Now you're going back a bit, but the former owners were not as squeaky clean as you might think.

My recollection is that the last months of Captain Cook's before it was taken on by Casino Rewards were far from pleasant for players and there was more than a little questionable conduct by the Australian operator. That sad episode is probably still in the Casinomeister News or Google archives.

It was a pity because prior to the crunch that operator had been largely on the ball and was highly regarded by people like Bryan, Ted Loh (r.i.p.) and myself who had met him on several occasions.

That's all water under the bridge now. As far as I know they left the industry.

There's little to be gained from criticising someone who is no longer a threat to players, so I will eschew publishing names unless you really need them; in any case if they re-entered the industry it would probably be under a new brand and company to outrun the past.

Yep, good ol' memory lane. They were also the first MGS casino I signed up at - using PayPal to fund my account, and playing the old pre-viper version of Multi-hand VP <sigh>.

Like Jetset said, the previous owners are no longer involved in the industry. As far as I know they aren't.

EVERYBODY has "won" in the sweepstakes, but the "prize" is just one of those "1 hour keep all (a bit) of your winnings (as a bonus with WR, and only if you deposit) promos". When the 24 hours is up, you will have another chance, several in fact, and probably for as long as the group is solvent. No doubt you will STILL be winning these "check lotteries" when the US becomes open to Microgaming in years or decades to come.

I have won 3467 (approx) so far of these, all from Captain Cooks, and I already have an account there:D

I won a couple yesterday:p

Thanks all

Thanks Bryan and all for responding to my post . Guess all we can say is that those were really good and fun days . We would have gladly stayed with them ( and online gambling ) probably forever had they maintained their original apparent desire to be honest , fair and well run .
Oh well -- back to driving to our favorite Louisiana Casinos with regulated and published pay out percentages .
