Mamagrams

What is a screening mammogram?

A screening mammogram is an x-ray of the breast used to detect breast changes in women who have no signs or symptoms of breast cancer. It usually involves two x-rays of each breast. Mammograms make it possible to detect tumors that cannot be felt. Mammograms can also find microcalcifications (tiny deposits of calcium in the breast) that sometimes indicate the presence of breast cancer.
How are screening and diagnostic mammograms different?

My stepmother had breast cancer and lost one of her breasts because of it, and my dad died 7 years ago from Leukemia, so why in the #@!# would I be making a joke of any form of cancer?

If you took it as rude, that's your prerogative, but that wasn't the point of the post.

I'm sorry for your loss, but if it was a joke, I would have put it in the jokes section, NOT the attic.

If the mods want to close this thread, feel free.

Winbig, I would like to see you request this thread moved to the Jokes section.

I confess I got a chuckle out of the clip, but did not feel it necessary to watch the whole thing. But I did, just so I could comment fairly. I did think at first it was a misspoke on the part of the Scouts as opposed to raising awareness. But it is a spoof, and that's okay too, but rather in poor taste IMO.

But to say it is not a joke!! That makes light of the reality of this disease.

I think it is okay to make light of serious matters, but please include them as jokes.

Bingo, your picture was tastless as always, but we need to count on some things:D
Thanks for providing a further link of a serious nature.

Whatever, I already spoke up and said it's fine for the mods to delete/close/do whatever with this thread.

IMO anything to raise awareness, in whatever form, is getting the word out to get tested. In this day and age, whatever works, works.

As I mentioned before, I've been (in)directly affected by (actually, 3) forms of cancer (breast cancer, Leukemia, and lung cancer.) I forgot to mention the fact that my grandfather died in the 80's from lung cancer, as well as my grandmother dying in the 90's from it too, having never smoked a day in her life.

So for you to even insinuate that I'm making fun of cancer, even after I pointed out my losses, is quite an insult, and I have no further word in this matter. The mods can do with this thread as they please.

edit: If people would have NOT taken it at face value and actually listened to the whole thing, they DID go through what women should be looking for and how to do a self exam, but I guess y'all missed that part...

It's from the Onion.

That site, Boreme.com ripped it off and put it on their site, and edited out The Onion. Blatant copyright infringement.

As for cancer, Yeah it sucks but damn it you need a sense of humor to deal with this stuff, if you don't then you've already lost.

The "I've lost someone to cancer" is cliche now, sadly, we've probably ALL lost someone to cancer. I bet this clip would have put a smile on my grandmothers face before she had died.
