Got this arrive in my inbox this morning, no warning, no nothing.

The email came from someone I have never heard from before, never received an email from them. Email addressed to.... er Hello?

Looks like we have the first indications of how this Betfair/PaddyPower relationship is going to go for affiliates in the future!

Hello,

We regret to inform you that we are terminating your participation in the Betfair Affiliate Programme (Account ID 11155 ). This decision was reached due to a lack of acquisition delivered for the Betfair brand in the last 12 months.

In accordance with Clause 14.1 of the Betfair Affiliate Programme Terms and Conditions, your affiliate account will be closed on expiry of 20 Business Days from today. As you have not referred any new customers to Betfair in the last 3 months, we have also reduced your revenue share to 5% of Net Revenue in accordance with Clause 4.4 of the Affiliate Terms. This new rate will apply with immediate effect.

Please remove all Betfair branding (including content, links and materials) from your site and all of your channels (including, without limitation, your social media, online and network channels) within 30 days.

If you wish to discuss decision further or believe that you have been contacted by mistake please get in touch.

Kind Regards

Ada

It seems that the only people affiliates should be doing business with are the small operators. Betfair is a black hole - I hate to see Paddy Power take the same route. But honestly, it wouldn't surprise me.

I would hazard a guess at decisions being made 'higher up the chain', without thought of the cause to long term relationships.

Betfair (Paddy Power/Flutter) suspended my affiliate account last weeks and is refusing to pay any future revenue share for the players I have brought them through the last 6+ years. Their reason was lack of activity, but this claim does not hold water:
  • I have featured them in 10 original articles over the last year, including naming them "Casino of the Month"
  • Clicks increased 20% over 2018, but NPP dropped 20% - most likely due to a reduction in the signup bonus from 300% to 200%
  • Still NPP is up 17% over 2016 and 75% over 2015. No complaints there.
  • I am aware of another affiliate that brought in 1 player over the last 2 years, but did not have his account suspended.
The explanation is more likely that 27 out of the last 28 months has brought in positive net revenue, and my earnings were up 80% over 2018. Pure money saving exercise.

I have written more details in an article on LinkedIn which has gained traction and several comments from affiliates with similar experiences:
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Please share this as well as your own experiences as a warning for other affiliates as well as operators that may be tempted to move down the same path.

They require a constant flow of new signups and deposits. No deposits means no activity and therefore closure. Their profit is obviously more important then the relation with their affiliates.

I would hazard a guess at decisions being made 'higher up the chain', without thought of the cause to long term relationships.
All the "Big Boys" are the same - they really couldn't give a tinker's cuss about the small-time affiliates
I really don't know why they bother with affiliates at all.

ALL the bookmakers with casinos that I have ever worked with have either screwed me over, reneged on an agreement without my consent, or just plain dumped me... with just one exception: Bet365

These are all the ones I can remember ripping me off:
Ladbrokes
William Hills
Victor Chandler
Kindred (Reduced my 32Red commission from 40% to 10% after 12 years of faithful promotion)
Corals
Sky Vegas
Paddy Power
Gala
Tote Sport
Boyle Sports

Of course, with Betfair it was ME who dumped THEM for STEALING from their players - something I found totally unacceptable.
So in a way I'm quite glad they are closing affiliate accounts, because they don't deserve our support after what they did.
