Are Payments from Casino sites for being an affiliate taxed in Canada?

Yes, it's earned income. You are allowed to claim business deductions, and if you run your business from your home and have a dedicated office area, you can claim a percentage of your home expenses. Expenses such as web hosting and internet would be 100%, and equipment such as computers are handled as capital costs and depreciation.

If i am not a business, just a regular person who many have a free site which hosts casino links, would this still apply? Money earned from any form of Gambling within Canada is not taxable, these casino sites do not send official forms, how would it be tracked? Wouldn't this type of money just be considered money from gambling also since it comes from sites that are outside of Canada?

As an affiliate you are responsible for declaring your income, which is NOT taxed at source. You work on a sole trader or self-employed basis. I weep every April when sending thousands to the UK IRS. :(

I'm not a tax attorney, but no. Gambling wins are not taxable, nor are losses deductible. But these are not gambling wins, these are affiliate payments, which is earned income.

If your earnings are small, your taxes will be small too. Just plan accordingly so you don't get hit with a big surprise come April next year. Take full advantage of any tax deductions available to you, and you might find you make very little net profit.

Small businesses are often run by "regular people", not companies. They are not exempt from tax.

Silly question... is there anything in Canada the government doesn't take a piece of? ;-P

Even the "untaxed" casino wins.. were still gained from the taxed income ;-)
