Anyone else feel newer slots are more hit or miss?

I might be overthinking this, but lately I’ve felt that newer slots are very hit or miss compared to older ones.

Some sessions feel completely dead unless a bonus drops, while older games felt a bit more balanced over time.

Not saying anything is wrong — just curious if others feel the same, or if it’s just how modern slots are built now.

From my short experience a lot of new slots are probably targeted to the players wanting huge max wins so they must be designed for that market. Not much base game and you need to hit the bonus round to have any chance. Not sure how they could pay the bonus wins otherwise.

I never really liked those types of slots as the max win odds are too ridiculous to bother with and I don't like that they don't give much game time for my deposit.

Ever play Castle of Terror II? Base game is like watchin paint dry. Game was clearly designed around the bonus round.

The symbol values are ridiculously low.

Unfortunately that’s always the case with a mechanic that can have multiple wilds potential multipliers in play and all ways pay, the only way to negate that is to have a different pay table for base and feature which never goes down well with players either, so as a slot designer your stuck between a rock and hard place on that issue.

I do understand that, but for that game specifically, purples across the board one way is 1.5x I think. There's like 5 different modifiers, so I get it, but wow, very convoluted design.

This is likely a bot thread, in poker room for a start.
I replied to this from the new posts as it had 0 replies, I'm a new user too so thought to post something as I could put something relevant and then saw the poker bit afterwards!

It did occur to me what you put but can't delete after posting and I'm a bit new to be calling out that kind of thing. Also just got it myself in a thread I started so didn't want anyone to think this is some 4d chess on my part!

On the positive side, if it is a genuine user he got a reply and a couple of other users had a chat 😄
