Alberta Inches Closer to Regulated Online Gambling

Just to add an update to this thread — Alberta has now confirmed July 13 as the official launch date. The go-live was announced in a letter from Minister Dale Nally in late March, co-signed by AGLC and AiGC leadership.

Though the offshore operator problem in Ontario never really went away, players can still access unlicensed platforms, and plenty do, especially those who got used to them before the regulated market launched. It will be interesting to see whether Alberta has thought through that problem differently or whether we end up in the same situation four years from now.

This will somehow screw with my games or providers I can access in someway I’m sure, and I’m from a diff province.

What really facks me off is the European Casino operators that shut out all Canadian players rather than just the people in Ontario. It’s like they have no idea that BC and other provinces have diff laws and regulations ; and that BC is NOT Ontario, plus just a small distance of roughly 4,000Km. Lots of games I enjoy or used to have been blacked out due to new Ont regulations (which are not even law in BC !)
