You've got to read the whole article... of course... this may not be funny to anyone except maybe other southerners... It's a hoot! Oh. And for the record, the county where I live (and grew up) is still 'dry' -- no alchohol sales whatsoever (being the devil's brew and all it's best bought 10 miles away across the county line LOL).

Sometimes its hard to believe Alabama and Louisiana are so near to each other. Convention has it that Louisianans have never seen a drink they wouldnt imbibe while Alabamans think alcohol is the devils brew. (Are Mississippians trying to work out a happy medium? Wine spritzers, perhaps?)

But things are starting to loosen a little in the Heart of Dixie, according to the following report from WSJ reporter David Kesmodel.

Thursday afternoon in Montgomery, the Alabama Senate passed a bill ...

But when Erwin stepped out of the chamber Thursday afternoon (LB is guessing he didnt go out for a beer), the Senate quickly staged a vote before he could return,

And who said ALL politicians were dim? Those are some crafty mofo's. Can't you just see the look on his face when he returned from his potty break and encountered this fait accompli. Brilliant!

......made headlines in 2005 when he wrote that Hurricane Katrina was Gods punishment for gambling, sin and wickedness

If this were the case, it would have struck the Whitehouse or the Senate (or both), turned eastwards, engaged with fierce storm coming out of Newfoundland, retripled in strength, and shot over the pond & down the North Sea at high tide to London, & flooded out Parliament.

I almost went blind in a dry county in South Carolina, some years ago...

You gotta watch out for that booze that comes in plastic one gallon milk containers... :D

The moron never even sent me a courtesy reply when I wrote and asked him why Katrina didn't hit Las Vegas or Tunica or Atlantic city -- Biloxi is small potatoes.
