10-seat Sit and Go tourney at an online poker room. 7 people remaining. I have the 2nd biggest chip stack at the table, behind the chip leader.

I get J-J preflop, and the guy before me (who has the smallest chip stack on the table) goes all-in.

I decide to JUST call his all-in. The next 4 people fold, and the final player to act raises all-in.

I put him on a higher pair than me or even A-K, but since I was committed to the pot, I decided to call his raise.

We turn over our cards. The guy before me, who had opened the pot, showed an A-J os.

The guy who raised all-in shows.... 8-3 off suit! ! ! :eek2:

I'm thinking that, at least, even if an Ace shows up, I'll have the chips of the guy who raised with 8-3 os.

Flop : 2-4-5
Turn : A
River : J

The guy after me gets the whole pot with a straight. Just for the record, If he hadn't entered the pot, I would have been saved at the river with a miracle third Jack.

However I was completeley amazed at this. I asked "What was that?" and he only answered "A mistake", probably yelling with excitement behind his monitor.

Needless to say, I went all in with my remaining chips on the very next hand with K-4 spades and lost.

I just wanted to share this with you guys and let off my frustration. I've been playing on line poker for more than 18 months, this has been the worst bad beat I ever had by far.

Oh , in case you wonder, YES, I think (and Hope!!!) it was just a mistake. I hate to think that guy was equipped with any suspicious "predict the flop ,turn and river cards" program running together with his poker software..

Thats all....

Well it was either a mistake or his play was terrible. I have gone all-in by mistake once or twice and thankfully havnt been called:D As for cheat software its highly unlikely that it exists but you never know.

Guess what. Went all-in with A-J , and sb . calls me with J-3 , just because he "wanted to leave because he was hungry". Hit a 3 on the flop, and thats it.

This whole day has been like that to me. On one other tourney, I went All-in with A-K and sb. calles me with J-Q and hits a Queen on the river....

Almost makes a player want to quit playing poker online :) You'd never see that in a B&M casino unless they were trying to steal and get caught..

Once when I was 'catsitting' the damn CAT jumped up and managed to make a huge reraise with some random crap. The raiser before me went all in and I had to call with my last chips.

Not very surprising the other guy got AA. I hit trips on the flop for a nice 200$ profit :D - and the cat didn't demand more than a few herrings for reward.

Maybe you should let the cat play more often...(s)he obviously knew what the board cards were going to be and and didn't want you to fold! :notworthy

Does the people you were catsitting for want to sell this cat??

It could been a mistake call. It happen to me when I am playing at 3 different table and then a pop-up screen comes up from the other table and I clicked raise or even fold when I didnt want to do that. One time I raise 3-5 suited cant remember what the flop was but I had a straight then a flush and I kept on raising and he kept on calling it. I tooked him for $500. He got upset and complains for a hour why I raise 3-5 preflop. It's my money and I do as I want.

Well if you were willing to go allin, you should have gone allin to begin with, that way the odds of the guy with 8-3 folding is much more likely

You being second in chips tells me that you have already developed a table image because the cards you won with were shown on any hand that went to a showdown with another player.

It is important on a single table tourney to get an early lead but if you got that lead by sucking out with a bad starting hand for the position you played it from against a legitimate good starting hand then you projected a bad table image(very loose or even donkey)to the other players just like the guy with 8 3 off.

Being a single table tourney means that you will likely run into more people hoping to suck out early for the chip advantage so they can either muscle the table, afford to wait for the better hands and hopefully both.

One of the pro's said sometimes you can do everything right and still lose.

Haven't heard any of them say from an early position you should play AA,AK,AQ,AJ (preferably suited)or a pair of 7's or better, and from a mid to late position you should play 7 2 off or better.

I realize you are new but it's considered not good form to comment on such an old thread and this one is from 2006. :D You probably didn't see the date on it and it happens. :)

not sure what OP is complaining about, you got your chips in godd and that's what poker is all about in the long run!!!

I'd be real happy if someone would make that play, I'd make a note on him and make sure I exploit every move made by the idiot. sure someone with a 7% hand will suck out 7% of the time!!
