William Hill Casino Club Review

One of the biggest names in gambling - but does bigger mean better?

By Casinomeister, Last updated Jun 22, 2023

Casinomeister's Verdict

William Hill isn’t the best casino in the world, nor is it the worst. They’re in the “Neutral Zone” here at Casinomeister due to spam marketing tactics, and for their lack of customer service. . That said, they offer first cashouts, a wide variety of games and access to some great sports betting facilities – so they’re a good option for many players, especially those located within the UK.

Many games - little personal touch

First Impression

William Hill is one of the biggest names in both the online gambling and the offline gambling world, and William Hill has a history dating back to 1934. William Hill’s online casino operation isn’t the best in the world, but it’s fairly decent – and they are pretty well-regulated, so accept players from all over the world.

William Hill has games from a wide variety of game developers, and while the website is a little confusing to use (the games are spread between three tabs; Casino, Vegas and Games), a search function lets you quickly find the games you want to play. William Hill also has sports betting, poker and bingo facilities.

  • Massively big company

  • Solid Playtech games

  • Has just about anything you can imagine to bet on

  • The large nature of the company can lead to an impersonal feeling

  • Video Poker selection is small

Bonuses and Promotions

Like all online casinos, William Hill Casino has a range of bonus promotions and bonus offers available – and below, we’re going to look at the bonus promotions you’ll find at William Hill Casino. This includes the main William Hill casino welcome offer and other real money promotions and bonus offer you’ll find at the site.

VIP and Loyalty Programs

William Hill has a VIP program – called the William Hill VIP club – and this club is operated on an invitation-only basis. Perks of being a member of the William Hill VIP Club includes a personal account manager, exclusive bonus promotions, flexible account controls, hospitality to World Class sporting events, and more. William Hill doesn’t provide much information about how their VIP Club works, other than what we’ve just covered.

William Hill provides a wide variety of deposit methods, and these deposit methods mostly have a minimum deposit of just $10. Note, however, that the minimum deposit can vary between payment methods; for example, if you make a bank transfer or cheque payment, the minimum deposit is $25 instead.

New customers will find themselves able to use most major debit and credit cards, along with EntroPay, Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, Neteller, Paysafecard and Faster Bank Transfer. All deposits are credited to your account instantly, and the site doesn’t charge any fees for you to make deposits.

William Hill Casino Withdrawal Speed

William Hill Casino lets you withdraw to virtually all banking options – and the minimum withdrawal is, for most banking options, just $5. The casino aims to process all withdrawals within 48 hours, but usually, they tend to process them all at once at the end of each working day. So, if you choose to use a payment method like Neteller or Skrill, you may find your withdrawal available within hours.

Responsible Gaming

At William Hill online casino, you’ll find yourself able to set some responsible gambling limits – designed to help you manage your online gambling and ensure it continues to be a fun and safe experience. William Hill offers you the chance to set a deposit limit as soon as you join the site, limiting how much you can deposit on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Along with real money deposit limits, you can also set time limit reminders. Like most online casinos, many players will find that they’re automatically reminded of how long they’ve been playing anyway.

If you feel your online gambling is getting a bit too much, you can also choose to take a time-out from the casino. This blocks your account for up to 6 weeks. There’s also the option for you to take self-exclusion, which closes your account for anywhere from 6 months to 5 years.

All of these responsible gambling tools can be self-managed yourself; there’s no need to contact the customer service team to implement them; they can all be implemented directly from within your “My Account” section of the casino.

Customer Support

William Hill Casino offers several customer support methods, from live chat, email support and phone support – although, to use the live chat function, you’ll need to be logged into your account. There’s also many different live chat sections, and you’ll find yourself connected to a different customer support team depending on what your question or problem is surrounding.

William Hill Casino offers a pretty large FAQ page, too, which provides answers to some of the most frequently asked questions both new players and existing customers are likely to have while using the site. Customer support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As part of writing this William Hill Casino review, we found the support service to be fairly robust – although it can feel a little impersonal at times.

As William Hill is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, they must run KYC checks on all of their UK players before they’re able to begin playing. While they don’t take this stance with players located outside of the United Kingdom, they tend to carry our KYC checks on most players, usually when you request your first withdrawal.

For this reason, we recommend you complete the account verification process yourself when you first create your account. This is done by heading to the “My Account” section and then click the “How do I Verify My Account?” section, where you’ll find information on how to verify your account; this usually requires you to provide your ID and Proof of Address. This can be done both through the desktop website and through the William Hill mobile casino. Once you’ve submitted your documents (make sure your Proof of Address is dated within the last 3 months), they will be processed in 1-2 business days.

Website Experience and Features

Desktop and Mobile Gaming

William Hill Casino runs largely on Playtech’s network, so you’ll notice that the site looks pretty similar to other major bookmaker casinos like Betfred and Betfair. While the online casino does look a little bit dated, it performs relatively well, and we find that getting around is relatively easy to use and easy to navigate. The only thing we don’t really like is that it can get a bit complicated since the casino games are split between three tabs; Vegas, Casino and Games. Still, it’s not a huge issue.

As part of writing this William Hill review, we also wanted to look at their mobile casino; we found they offer both a mobile-optimized version of their casino along a mobile app. The mobile app is pretty decent and can be downloaded on all iOS and Android devices. Note; the William Hill Mobile Casino app doesn’t offer sports betting or poker – it only provides access to the site’s casino games.

A Massive Sportsbook

With over 80 years in the sports betting industry, William Hill has a huge degree of experience – and, especially in the UK, they’ve become somewhat synonymous with sports betting. For example, they operate hundreds of retail bookmakers in the UK.

They also offer one of the world’s biggest online sportsbooks, where you’ll be able to place bets on a huge number of betting markets. This includes Soccer, Basketball, Tennis, Football, Hockey, Horse Racing, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Motorbikes, Golf, Cricket, E-Sports, Baseball, Cycling, Greyhound Racing, Poker, UFC, Wrestling, Boxing, Motor Racing, Pool, Snooker, Lotteries, Handball – and they also offer a range of TV/Special markets. It’s a solid sportsbook with one of the biggest selection of betting markets you’ll find online.

Poker; Cash Games, Tournaments and More

In 2018, William Hill moved to the iPoker network, offering a substantial new range of poker facilities to its players. You’ll be able to play their poker games in both instant play form, and they also have a downloadable client. They offer a wide variety of different types of poker games, from Sit & Go Tournaments and Cash Games to unique fast-fold tables, which, at the site, is known as Speed Poker.

In our view, the fact that you don’t have to install a William Hill Poker app is a plus. While the desktop and smartphone applications are excellent, having the freedom to hop in and out anytime you want is handy. In reality, it contributes to the laid-back atmosphere that has become synonymous with this site.

Away from the more intense sites like PokerStars, William Hill delivers a more whimsical, laid-back way of playing. While they don’t offer the most advanced features globally, they’re giving the major poker platforms a good run for their money, and it’s clearly proving popular – especially within the UK market.

Brand games

William Hill Casino offers a wide variety of software providers. While, initially, most of the games on offer were Playtech, Ash Gaming and NextGen Gaming, today, you’ll find titles from many of the world’s leading game developers, including Netent, Red Tiger Gaming, Evolution Gaming, Pragmatic Play, Blueprint Gaming, IGT, Novomatic, Big Time Gaming and Barcrest.

They offer a range of games, from video slots and progressive jackpot slots to casino table games, scratch cards and video poker machines.

Wondering what slots you’ll find at William Hill Casino? William Hill online allows you to play a wide variety of slots, and thanks to the fact that their website is powered by Playtech, you’ll find many Playtech games you won’t find at other sites – Great Blue being a solid example. In this highly volatile video slot, it’s all about the free spins feature where you can win a ton of free spins with a multiplier of up to 18X – and you can re-trigger the free games an unlimited number of games, too!

William Hill is one of the best sites to play Playtech slots – but there are also games from other software providers, including some classic Barcrest titles like Mighty Black Knight. Here, you’ll find yourself able to play on an enhanced set of reels where up to 100 paylines can become active!

Other popular slots we saw when writing this William Hill casino review included John Hunter and the Book of Tut, The Dog House Megaways, Bonanza, Starburst, Rainbow Riches and Cleopatra.

Live Casino

William Hill’s live casino offers live dealer games from both Evolution Gaming and Playtech. You’ll find a ton of games on offer, including the likes of Live Roulette and Live Blackjack – and there are multiple variations of both of these games.

Along with the classic live dealer games, William Hill Casino also offers a wide variety of live dealer game show games; this includes Crazy Time and Dream Catcher and Deal with Deal or No Deal and Football Studio Live.

To access the live dealer casino at Will Hill, you’ll need to hit the “Live Casino” tab on the main game navigation menu.

Table Games and Video Poker

There’s also a small selection of other casino games William Hill offers, and these are found under the “Card Games” tab. You’ll find titles including Baccarat, Casino Hold’em, Hi-Lo Premium, 7e Mezzo, 3 Card Brag, and Sette Mezzo.

If you’re looking to play other casino games like Video Poker, you’ll be pleased to find the site also offers a small selection of video poker machines. While writing this casino review, we found Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, Heads Up Hold’em and Aces or Faces – all from well-known game developers. There’s also a small selection of instant win games and scratch cards. All in all, we find the variety of casino table games and other casino games at William Hill casino to be perfectly sufficient; a few more poker table games would be good, however.

Progressive Jackpots

Jackpot games are available in plenty at William Hill – and you’ll find all the jackpot games under the “Jackpots” tab. Here, you’ll find yourself able to play classic William Hill casino games – powered by Playtech – including the likes of Suicide Squad, Aquaman, The Dark Knight and Superman. Some of these progressive jackpot video slots allow you the chance to win millions of dollars – and the minimum bet limits are tiny, allowing players on all budgets to enjoy the action!

Some other notable progressive jackpot video slots include Jackpot Giant, Funky Fruits, Leprechauns Luck, Beach Life, Bounty and the Beanstalk and Age of the Gods: King of Olympus.

About the Team and History

William Hill Casino is part of a company with one of the longest histories in the gambling industry; the company was first formed back in 1934 by a man named William Hill. Originally starting by taking bets at horse race tracks in the UK and Ireland, William Hill started opening bookmakers throughout the UK and Ireland and soon became the biggest gambling name in the UK. In 2002, they were listed on the London Stock Exchange.

Launching their online gambling platform in the early 2000s, William Hill started mainly focusing on sports betting. They quickly rose to become one of the biggest online sportsbooks on the planet – a position they continue to hold today – and when they launched their online casino, it, at first, carried just Playtech games. Over the coming years, they expanded their game range offering, adding additional types of games – like scratch cards and live dealer games – along with adding new software providers.

In September 2020, William Hill agreed to a £2.9 billion takeover deal by Caesars Entertainment. The company holds many online gambling licenses; these are issued by the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority and the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.

Complaints and Track Record

William Hill is by far probably the largest online gambling site, hands down. And they have just about everything – Sports, Casino Games, Bingo, Poker, Live Games…it’s William Hill, remember? But big is not always better.

William Hill has never been listed in the Accredited section here at Casinomeister. They almost were when they were a Cryptologic powered casino, but since they went Playtech, things got a little weird over there. Some of it has to do with being associated with the Israeli run Affutd, their affiliate program.

Affutd is just CPays revamped and relaunched (cpays.com redirects to affutd.com). Back in the day, CPays was notorious for using black hat SEO and other unorthodox casino marketing methods. As long as Will Hill is associated with these guys, they can forget being accredited at CM.

And to add, the bigger the casino is, the more detached it gets from the player and webmaster community. We get regular spam emails from their affiliate managers, “Hi, I was impressed with your site, and I wanted to promote our products which are clearly too busy to actually read the rules of our Becoming Accredited section which is linked to every page on this website.

In terms of player complaints, most issues seem to revolve around the verification times associated with personal information (KYC) checks – and despite being one of the biggest online casinos around, they seem to have some internal issues when it comes to verifying customers. However, other than that, it seems that major issues are relatively rare at the site, and they appear to process withdrawals quickly, usually all together at the end of each day.
