Casinomeister’s Verdict

ZARbet lives up to its name: it runs entirely in rand, supports South African payment methods, and holds a local gambling license. The 300+ game library isn’t enormous, but it covers slots and table games, as well as locally themed ZARbet Originals. There are crash titles like Aviator, too, a firm favourite among South African players. ZARbet clearly knows its crowd.

The bonus line-up looks busy, but many promotions only appear for a day (or even a few hours) each week. Miss the midweek deposit match or the weekend Prize Drops, and you’ll have to wait for the next round. Timing clearly needs to be part of your wagering strategy at ZARbet.

Overall, ZARbet pulls off something many local casinos struggle with: it feels distinctly South African without laying it on too thick. The site feels current, the game selection suits its audience and the local touches never slip into gimmick territory.

From the Desk of Max Drayman

Zarbet has a conspicuously clean record on Casinomeister which makes an old scene dog like myself suspicious. Having just looked into them further I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised. They are licensed by South Africa’s Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board which, I am told by our resident South African expert, is “one of the more stringent SA regulators”. Looking at the Responsible Gambling and Self-exclusion pages on the casino site I can see what he meant: the casino has been very thorough and presented an excellent, licensing body backed case for the handling of players with gambling issues. In fact I’d say they’ve gone out of their way to take it seriously. Same for Complaints: well described procedure and a clear message that if the player remains unsatisfied after dealing with the casino they are to take their case to Gambling & Racing Board. Of all the casinos I’ve looked over recently ZARbet stands out for the good vibes I’m getting from what I see: a tentative two thumbs up on this one.

Pros

  • Pros Western Cape licensed
  • Pros R20 minimum deposit
  • Pros Weekly jackpots and prize drops

Cons

  • Cons Welcome bonus restricted to ZARbet Original games
  • Cons Responsible gambling tools via support only

ZARbet Bonuses and Promotions

ZARbet has put more effort into its promotions page than many new local casinos. You’ll find deposit matches, free spins, jackpots and random prize drops. There are always casino bonuses to claim, provided you arrive on the right day.

The terms aren’t all bad, but the deposit-match offers come with a few catches. You’ll need to complete 30x wagering, bonus funds are restricted to ZARbet Original games and some smaller deposits come with a 10x cashout cap. The jackpot and prize-drop rewards are more manageable at 1x, at least. The bigger issue is timing. Many promotions run for just 24 hours or within set hours, so miss the window and you’ll be waiting for the next one.

VIP and Loyalty Programs

ZARbet doesn’t have a VIP club or a tiered loyalty scheme. The closest thing is the R25,000 Weekly Loyalty Jackpot, which is really a weekly prize draw with a loyalty label on it.

There are no levels, no points ladder, and no status that builds over time. If you want ongoing perks like cashback, a VIP manager, or higher limits, you’d be better off looking at other online casinos.

ZARbet Payment Options and Withdrawal Speed

Beyond cards and EFT, ZARbet embraces some popular local options in SA: prepaid vouchers, Capitec and Ozow. Deposits land instantly, though most methods start at R100, well above the R20 minimum for the welcome bonus. 1Voucher and OTT are the exceptions, both accepting deposits from R20.

EFT is the only withdrawal method, but that’s pretty standard in SA. The minimum is R250 and works with ten major South African banks like Absa, FNB, Capitec and Investec. I couldn’t find payout times on the site, but a support agent confirmed that withdrawals are processed within 24 hours. Your bank and verification status may still affect the final wait.

Before your first payout, you’ll need to complete FICA verification. ZARbet usually runs this check automatically during registration. If it can’t verify you, you’ll need to email your South African ID, licence or passport, plus a recent utility bill, within 14 days of requesting a withdrawal. You also might be asked for a selfie holding your ID, and manual checks can take 24–48 hours. That’s reassuring if you like a properly regulated casino, but annoying if you’d rather skip the paperwork.

ZARbet Games

ZARbet covers slots, crash games, table games and live casino, with some local flavour through its ZARbet Originals. The Afrikaans titles caught my attention: Liefde and Jack Parow’s Heeltyd Speeltyd give the lobby a distinctly South African touch.

ZARbet Casino Game Providers

ZARbet pulls from 16 software providers, and the names are the right ones: Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Nolimit City, Big Time Gaming, Red Tiger and Spribe all make the list. These are established names behind games such as Sweet Bonanza and Cash Volt, so there’s plenty that regular casino players will recognise.

ZARbet Slots

Slots make up most of the lobby, with roughly 200 titles to choose from. Newer releases get a “NEW” tag, but I couldn’t find a dedicated new-slots page, so spotting the latest drops means scrolling. The Featured category is your shortcut to the headline games, and filters for Jackpot, Free Spins and Max Ways help narrow things down. RTP is the gap. The game tiles don’t show it, making it harder than it should be to choose among 200 slots.

Live Casino

The live casino offers blackjack, roulette and baccarat, plus game shows like Crazy Time, Dream Catcher and Monopoly Big Baller. Evolution supplies the games, which gets a nod of approval from me. It’s a familiar name for good reason.

The live casino layout is less impressive. You’ll need to use the Live Dealer filter to find the tables. It does the job, but I’d prefer a dedicated live casino tab. No need to make finding a blackjack table a game in itself.

ZARbet Casino Experience and Features

ZARbet’s website is straightforward enough to navigate, though the mobile version could use some polishing. The graphics are crisp, but I noticed a little lag, and browsing the game categories feels clunkier than it needs to.

The game filters help narrow things down, although the oversized Open Filters button gets in the way on a smaller screen. Useful feature, slightly awkward execution. The fixed navigation bar works better, keeping the cashier and support within easy reach.

ZARbet also offers iOS and Android apps, a welcome addition that isn’t a given among South African casinos. I appreciate having both options, especially when the mobile browser experience leaves room for improvement. Overall, the site does the job, but a few layout tweaks would make it easier to use.

Responsible Gambling

ZARbet covers the basics of responsible gambling, but accessing its safeguards means contacting support. I’d prefer players to have more control from their account, especially when they need to take a break.

The bigger concern is that deposit limits don’t cover vouchers or direct cash deposits. That leaves a substantial gap: a spending limit is less useful when it only covers certain payment methods.

The ZARbet responsible gambling page doesn’t describe loss limits, wagering limits, session reminders or a self-assessment tool. It links to South African gambling support organisations, but links alone don’t establish a formal partnership.

About the ZARbet Team and History

ZARbet is owned and operated by Apollo Gaming (Pty) Ltd, based at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. It’s licensed by the Western Cape Gambling & Racing Board, with its first licence issued on 28 March 2024.

Our online casino reviews include a check for regulatory penalties against the operator and I didn’t find any for ZARbet. Nothing concerning stood out, though that’s hardly a lifetime seal of approval. For now, having an identifiable local operator and regulator is a reasonable starting point.

Complaints and Track Record

ZARbet is still relatively new, so there isn’t much of a complaints history to go on. We found no complaints or Player Arbitration cases at Casinomeister, and the forum is quiet on the brand. That’s a good sign, although there isn’t enough history yet to make any grand declarations.

Elsewhere, the feedback is mixed. The iOS app has a 4.7/5 rating from 814 ratings, with users praising its speed, navigation and quick withdrawals. Hellopeter is a different story, with a 2.5 TrustIndex and complaints about payout reductions, bonus caps, verification delays and support issues. These are allegations, not proof of wrongdoing, but they’re worth keeping in mind. We found no public record of fines or penalties involving Apollo Gaming, but ZARbet’s track record is still developing.

For a closer look at what goes into our reviews, see our casino review methodology and Casinomeister rating system.

Player Comments on ZARbet

ZARbet is currently a blank page in the Casinomeister forum. We found no player threads or operator discussions to quote, so there’s no community verdict to report yet.

A quiet forum isn’t an endorsement. It just means nobody has started the conversation. If you’ve played at ZARbet, share your experience in our forums.

Customer Support at ZARbet

ZARbet keeps support simple, with live chat, email and phone assistance. I was connected to live chat immediately, although it took a few minutes before an agent replied. There’s no FAQ section for quick answers, but public feedback is generally positive about the helpful support staff. Overall, it’s a decent setup, if not the fastest around.
