Uk Racing's Ultimatum Backfiring?

Bookmakers foregoing sponsorships

According to The Racing Post, the BHA, Horsemen's Group and Racecourse Association's ultimatum favouring levy-friendly bookmakers may just have backfired.
Two of Cheltenham's prestigious prize sponsors are reported to be considering their continued participation after BetFred ended its sponsorship of Cheltenham's Gold Cup and the Haydock's Sprint Cup on Sunday.
Coral has reportedly ended its sponsorship of the All-Weather Championships and Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival and the Paddy Power Gold Cup have yet to be signed.
The Racing Post reports Paddy Power's renewal of the sponsorship talks have stalled, while Ladbrokes isn't rushing to ink their renewal either.
"The Ladbrokes World Hurdle is a race we've been proud to develop over the past decade," Ladbrokes Director of Media, David Williams, said in an interview with The Racing Post.
"We have a bit of time on our side before a contract needs signing but we're very clear we want to work with sports who value our sponsorship experience and credentials.
"There is no shortage of sports with broad appeal for sponsors like us who are eager to work with bookmakers to secure mutual benefits."
