In a surprise announcement, the UK Gambling Commission has revealed that from 1st June, all licensed online casino operators will be required to set a minimum RTP (return to player) of 99.9% on all online slot games. This is a significant increase from the current industry standard of around 95%.
The move has been hailed as a major win for players, who will now have a much higher chance of winning big on their favourite online slots. It’s also expected to drive innovation in the industry, as operators look for new ways to attract players and stay competitive.
Commenting on the news, a spokesperson for the UK Gambling Commission said: “We’re always looking for ways to improve player protection and ensure that the industry operates fairly and responsibly.”
“This new requirement will help to do just that, by giving players a much better chance of winning when they play online slots.”
Reaction to the news has been overwhelmingly positive, with players and industry insiders alike hailing it as a game-changer.
Casinomeister forum member Dunover was so excited about the news that his cat got scared and wee’d all over his computer keyboard.
In a statement, Dunover said: “This is incredible news for players! I can’t believe the UKGC is actually doing something to help us win more. I’m so excited that I can’t even type properly – but who cares when we’re all going to be winning big on online slots from June 1st!”
It remains to be seen how the new requirement will impact the industry, but one thing is for sure: players are going to be very happy come June. So get ready to spin those reels and win big!
