Hi folks,

I'm just wondering if those of you who have been to a casino in Germany wish to share your experience. I'd love to hear as I'm planning to travel around the country next year.

I've never actually been, but the Kurhaus in Wiesbaden is a very classy joint, and is steeped in history, in fact, it was the setting for Fyodor Dostoyevsky's novella, "The Gambler", published in 1867.

It was made into a movie, starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner. The name of the movie is "The Great Sinner" from 1949, you can find it online.

Not the kind of place you can stroll into with a pair of jeans and a £200 bankroll I'd imagine.

You'd think you'd have to be 'somewhat loaded' to even make it past the entrance

Here is a glimpse of one small section of the interior, it's more like a cathedral than a gambling joint. :)
