The End of MG Download Casinos?

I've been watching the sites/casinos that pop-up for over 10 years now...

What i have seen recently is that:

1. No new MG Download Casinos pops up
2. None of the webbased Multi-Game Casinos i know have an MG Download Client as well
3. The Software Updates to the MG Download Client are pretty much non-existent

So i'm asking myself.... Will the MG Download Clients fully disappear on some point?

I don't know why, i love those multi-game casinos, but sometimes i want an "MG only session" and there's nothing more comfortable than playing with the software client.

I totally agree - it will be a very sad day indeed when we lose the "luxury" of an MG download place to play. :(
(Even though I have to play most games in silent mode, because MG can't make their software compatible with HP laptops )

Hopefully places like 32Red and the CR group will stick with them though - unless MG pull the rug from under their feet...

I could imagine this happening as for Microgaming it could be painful always keeping the software client working although it seems to be programmed for Windows 95 haha

So let's cross our fingers...!! Although that didn't help with Grand Virtual back in the days :( I still miss this funny software...

I do prefer the MG download client as well, just a better playing experience.... and i do not see the client disappearing any time soon.

Reason is that the casino groups using it have been in the business for a very long time, e.g. CR, Fortune Lounge, 32Red, VPL with millions of customers. Also MG is surely getting more in licensing fees when providing the complete client instead of just a few games.

The holy grail would be something like: 32RED download and including Net-ent, WMS etc into the client :) :) I would only play at one place then :)

Yeah that would be cool!! I remember Nordicbet having a "download-client" with lots of different games from different Providers... But those are no real downloadclients they are just a software which displays you webbased games... I dont' see a real download client coming for NetEnt or something like that... It seems it's just nothing they care about...

I'm hoping for a nice Windows 10 App. The Viper-Client really needs a reboot, it's so unstable and provides a worse performance than the flash-based games. (Example: JP Slot on Viper vs. Chrome | Laggy vs. Smooth)

I can see the logic if they are trying to phase it out. The world has moved on and the hassle of making download clients work across a variety of different devices must be a nightmare. They don't want to become another dinosaur like another firm with Micro in the name.

:)

Yeah, the worst thing about this would be, if we loose the download client we probably will loose dozens of game they don't have running in those multi-game MG casinos, especially all the old ones that didn't get a refresh....

That's the reason they relaunch all the "old" Games to mobile (HTML5), but the problem with HTML5 is, that it's not really ready for something high-end like Jurassic Park in terms of graphics.
And flash will die too, so the question is, what plattform would be the best for the future...

It must be HTML5, and i'm sure everything will run on HTML5 once... But yeah, honestly i don't get it why a company with so much power and money can't update their download client to be just a tiny bit more state-of-the-art.

I do not get it either, it badly needs a proper update.

I "get" why web based casinos are more popular these days. Bigger choice of games and ease for the software company. However the problem is sessions are just never as smooth as the microgaming client. When you play a full download casino like 32red you (almost) never get disconnected, never get "error 2" never get told "this game is currently not available" never get logged out after spending 20 mins on the same slot etc, its just a far far better playing experience in that respect.

Also I have read horror stories on here of winnings from free spin rounds not being credited or games crashing and losing bonus rounds on flash casinos. Then the casino is ignorant about it. Never seems to happen on MG download casinos.

Overall I understand the future will be web based totally - however its still massively lacking the player experience on download casinos and I hope they continue and have multi provider offerings in future

Yeah, for me the worst thing would be too loose games... Sometimes i really like to play the really old MG releases, and there's no way that all of them will survives without the download client.

At least the webbased Casino-Lobbies are getting better and better :)

MG Download Casinos never lag for me. The http varieties all lag like hell.

Big loss if they will phase out MG download client.

Performance-intensive games runs better on flash-based Casinos using Chrome, but I think that the newer games run on the Viper Client in Flash (embedded form of Flash Player) too, so it's maybe just a thing of optimization.
Or it's because of my personal environment - is anybody here able to run the JP Velociraptor Feature full smooth on the Viper Client?

No i don't think so... But then again i've never experienced a slot before that needs so much power than JP, it's just insane.

I remember when you would go to a website like The Gaming Club or All Slots or whatever (yes I'm that old) and on the homepage it would say

DOWNLOAD OUR CASINO NOW

Or click here for our instant casino

They really really didn't want you to play via the browser. Mind you, I think it was only a choice of either a three reeler or keno. Went mental when they included Spring Break.

They have been needed an upgrade for a while, Either they need to sort it out, Like hoff pointed out about it being designed for win95 He was not wrong there, Do you see how much sit that takes up unnecessary space up on your hard drive, Uncalled for and not needed, I have only got 32 downloaded and nothing but bugs and glitches, Very slow also,

They will be in trouble if they pulled the plug as 32's flash site is pants, Good site if just sorted out better download and instant play

I would say HTML5 and associated technologies are already more than capable of handling Jurassic Park - and probably have been for a couple of years now. Bejeweled and Angry Birds (HTML5+WebGL) were re-released in 2011, and there is widespread support (including Unreal and Unity) for both 2D and 3D graphics now - some of the examples (HexGL, Chrome Experiments) are really impressive.

I think the main issue will be lack of experience, perhaps why the "old" games are ported first. Although Barcrest has released Monopoly Big Event as a flash-free version too, so it is happening

As for flash, with the recent news of three crippling vulnerabilities in less than a month and more and more big names abandoning it (Facebook called for its end of life, Google has been HTML5-focused for a long time, Twitch moved one step closer to being Flash-Free this week) then hopefully its days are now numbered!

On the downside, we've already seen a huge swathe of games abandoned because of regulatory issues, hopefully we won't see too many slots abandoned over the coming years with the migration to new technologies. Same could apply if the MG Download Casino ceased to be, how many Flash portals offer close to the full MG range?
