RIP Taylor Hawkins

Whilst I feel for the family, he was found in a hotel room, suspected death was from a heroin overdose but yet to be confirmed.

You would think he would have learned a lesson after almost killing himself previously from said use - sorry can't feel sympathy for him personally but it's a sad day to lose such a monumental musician.

Yes because that's how addiction works.

There's a nice piece about him here:

The Foo Fighters have always been a great band, I first became aware of Dave Grohl as the drummer for Nirvana, so after Kurt Cobain's death I was very interested to see what he'd go onto next - and I've enjoyed the Foo Fighters' music over the years, although they're a little bit MOR sometimes. (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, of course.)

Their debut album was tremendous, albeit with Grohl performing near-enough every track by himself, proving that he wasn't "just the drummer from Nirvana"

The album that resonates most with me, not just for the Zeitgeist, but because it was their most 'complete' would have to be There Is Nothing Left To Lose in '99, which as it turns out, was the first to feature Hawkins on drums, after he'd finished touring with Alanis Morrissette.

I'd heard that he had a somewhat 'troubled' affiliation with drugs, and that he'd try to conquer his demons. I'm not sure anyone outside his inner circle were even aware that this could even be a possibility. He'd always had a positive outlook and seemed like a jovial fellow, at least on the surface, so this comes as quite a shock if anything.

A great loss to the music world, of that there is no doubt. R.I.P
