Less than a year after being put on the market, Rainbow Casino and Hotel in Vicksburg is no longer for sale.

Bally Technologies, an international company that produces slot machines and other gaming devices, has decided to keep the property.

"We recognize the value that Rainbow brings to the company," said Marcus Prater, a spokesman for Bally Technologies.

He also said the company did not receive a blockbuster offer.

"We couldn't come to an agreement with the parties we were talking to," Prater said.

In October 2006, the company announced it was accepting offers for the property. At the time, the company said it was going to focus on its core business.

Earlier this week the company said estimated profits were $670 million to $690 million for the fiscal year ended June 30.

A majority of the company's growth comes from its core business. Rainbow is the sole gaming property the company owns, although Bally Technologies previously operated a casino in Sparks, Nev.

"Rainbow has provided our company great cash flows and continues to do so," Prater said of the casino's significance.

Vicksburg has four casinos and a fifth - River Walk Casino and Hotel - is under construction. Two other properties are in the planning .....
