The way I took it was he bought something and couldn't get it open. TV shows do this kind of comedy all the time. It's funny on tv, I thought of Kevin James trying to open something on his tv show. Or stand up comedians also do this kind of humor. The joke is about the packaging of products and how hard it is trying to open them. Like CD's or kids toys for example.

At least that's how I took it. But BMWs answer was classic!!!

I thought it was totally funny, though a lot of people thought the OP was serious and didn't get it at all. Mind you , My sense of humor is pretty warped
