Internet Sweepstakes & MicroGaming

OK...

So I run a website for a bingo hall around where I live. The guy who owns the place recently opened up a new Internet Sweepstakes Cafe next door. I figured I would go in and give it a whirl, just to test it out and see what they have to offer - some people have already won a few thousand from this place, so I went in and gave it a try.

In a nutshell, basically you buy a prepaid LD phone card and get sweepstakes "points" for every dollar you purchase (1 point per penny, 25 point minimum "play")... OK, I said, so I load up my card and sit down to see what games they have to offer.

One game that immediately caught my eye was "Alley Cats". I remember I had seen this game somewhere online, but I could not for the life of me, remember where. I play it, and a few others, and manage to win a few dollars above what I started out with, so I was happy.

I go home, and having this on my mind, I open up every one of the softwares I have on my machine (Rival, MG, RTG - I knew 3Dice wasn't it :p). I just had to find out just where I had seen this game before.

Sure enough, I had seen this game as a MicroGaming GAME!!! Same images, same bonus game, SAME EVERYTHING - except the paylines... MG has 9, this game has 25... but that wasn't the point... Whatever MG US did, they apparently sub-licensed MG's games to this software company (who I don't know) that runs this Internet Sweepstakes.

EDIT - This also goes for Liquid Gold, which I also just saw as I was writing this... This is another game the cafe has that is in the suite of MG games!!

Maybe MG US is preparing to introduce their games to US land-based casinos soon... I could have sworn I saw one recently, but I don't remember which one.

Are they trying to re-take US market share? Or was this just an amazing coincidence?
