I received 3 e-mails as follows, presumably further to my last three deposits. First time I have received such e-mails, so am rather puzzled how they were able to get my full name and e-mail address if they are not associated with Casino Extreme or Casino Brango? Certainly don't appear to be associated with the casinos given the nature of the e-mail.

Hello Richy75 ,

Firstly I would like to apologize on any inconvenience caused by those email .

I can tell you for sure that this doesn't come from our side ,that being said I will check on what's going on as the issue in not global . So far you are the second person who have reported this problem meaning it didn't happen to all our customer .However this is a serious issuewhich for sure affects our brands and rest assured we will investigate furthermore .

On another note ,I kindly ask if you could forward us those emails on pitboss@casinoextreme.com ,also if you could provide us with more info such as the date time etc..

Apologies once again and looking forward to hear back from you .

Sincerely

@RichyJ75 - Yeah very very dodgy. At least they have now confirmed it is not from them. the email itself is soo generic. That is always prove it is a phishing email. Also I do not see anywhere in that email it shows your name. It only shows your email which you blacked out. So no idea why you said it said your name. If your email has your name in the actual email address. Then they might have just got your name from that email addy itself.

It does show my name, I had just scrolled the e-mail down to show more of the content than showing my name for the screen shot! It came addressed to me as my full name.

Mikey, I'll forward them shortly.

Ahh ok I see, and does your email have your first and or last name in it? If so that is probably where they got it from. That is also why I never ever ever have emails with my last name in them ever.

That way when I get spam, they never know my last name anyway :p Unless they are from sites that know my details because I signed upto them. Like casinos or forums etc etc!

Dear RichyJ75,

Apologies for keeping you wait as we needed to check and test with the processor we are currently use .Indeed this questionnaire came from our processor because we have lifted the limits to all our VIP players immediately and they the questionnaire was set in the backend .It is important for you to know that no phishing email was sent nor data licked . It is just one more step to verify that the transactions were made by you at that time . It is being triggered after a couple of transactions in row . That being said ,I have asked double checked with them (processor ) about this an from now on nobody will be getting such emails .

I am attaching the screenshot on how this looks once you click on the link .

It was strange to us too but it takes time to get used to new processing solution . However you are in the safe hands and no data leaks have happened ,it was just another step of verification after couple of consecutive purchases ,that's all .

I can apologize on any inconvenience caused and let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance.

All the best

Maybe, but that format is dodgy as hell, it even has the email client screaming warnings and disabling HTML to render it into plain text. If this is indeed a valid verification check, then the only player who would give it the time of day would be the ones that routinely fall victim to phishing scams.

Just look at that link for example, it is the stereotypical link one gets from phishing, an IP instead of a website name, and a deeply nested landing page within. It's also HTTP and not HTTPS, so it's not even a secure link for verification.

You can't blame VIP players for treating this as a phishing attempt and just ignoring the verification request. You are lucky this even made it into this player's inbox as many spam filters would have silently blocked this kind of thing.

A payment processor should not construct such an amateurish verification procedure, they are in the business of handling money, and should be well aware that getting hold of money is the main payoff for phishing attacks.

Dear vinylweatherman ,

Thanks a lot for your comments ,

I couldn't of say better and wish we new about this procedure before we went live . I don't have that much to say in our defense but you need to consider that the rules are always changing and it gets more trickier to find a proper processor without having to adopt. I asked them personally about this questionnaire and what's the point on having something which looks like a spam ,they told me that they need to keep it for another regions and different business models .Luckily for us it didn't last long and hope the things will be in order from now on.

Most important aspect for us is to keep the players happy and sometimes we will face a problem but nothing like data leaks or something similar .

I am just being honest with all of you and what happened in this case.

All the best !

Mikey
