Casinomeister’s Verdict

VegasBuilder is a unique new sweepstakes casino that combines a world-building video game with playing casino-style games with SC. It’s quite different from the usual sweeps casino model and our VegasBuilder review is here to break it all down.

Our lasting impression is that this is an innovative platform, with a fresh approach to sweepstakes gaming and promotions that stands out in a crowded industry. We spent 14 hours over two weeks playing at VegasBuilder for this review, and it felt like we were only just getting started with our City and with the overall experience.

At the same time, we found some drawbacks compared with other top sweepstakes casinos. In particular, the lack of traditional GC means you get to play fewer games, and we missed testing out games with no risk before switching to SC.

VegasBuilder Casino Overview

VegasBuilder follows a different structure from the usual sweepstakes casino. For a start, there are no Gold Coins and no Gold Coin mode.

Instead, that has been replaced by Builder Mode, which is basically a video game where you construct your own version of Las Vegas in the desert. To build your City, you use certain Builder Items:

  • Bricks are what you use to construct new building and expand your City
  • Shields are used to protect your City from raids and decay, maintaining your progress
  • Hammers are used to demolish buildings so you can replace them
  • Builder Spins are effectively free spins on a prize wheel which reward you with Bricks, Shields or Hammers

There are some other less-important items too, including Decorations to change how your City looks. You can buy most of these Items, which come with some free bonus SC.

In addition to simply building your City, you can Raid other users to steal resources and damage their Cities. You’ll also need to protect your own city ( using Shields), and you can also take part in friendly Visits to other cities and even gift resources. The community chat is a good addition to this feature, too.

We’ve played at other sweepstakes casinos that have similar side-games to this, like Dorados and BigPirate, but VegasBuilder takes things one step further by making Build Mode the primary social mode of the casino, replacing playing games with Gold Coins.

Building up your city over time is fun and satisfying. It reminded us of social media games like FarmVille, and consistency and dedication is the key to making progress.

At the same time, Builder Mode feels very different from Sweepstakes Mode, where you play casino-style games using promotional Sweepstakes Coins as usual. We could easily imagine players simply ignoring one or the other: it’s almost like two totally distinct types of gaming under one roof.

Also, when it comes to casino-style games, we definitely missed being able to play using GC. It means that VegasBuilder isn’t a good choice if you just want to play free slots for fun, since your free SC runs out quickly.

There are lots of promotions on-site, which we appreciated. We got 10 Builder Spins (BS) and 1 SC when we joined, and there are a couple of first purchase offers up for grabs.

You can spin a prize wheel once per day to receive up to an additional 2 SC, there are Daily Races with SC prizes, Missions with Builder Mode prizes, and site-wide jackpots when you play SC slots. VegasBuilder is also very active on social media and has been known to drop prizes and promotions on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

We haven’t even mentioned the 788 casino-style games yet, which include slots and live dealers. We’ll break them down in a later section.

How Does VegasBuilder Casino Work?

VegasBuilder is a sweepstakes casino, albeit one with a slightly different structure than most.

In this case, the free social version of the site is the world-building game in Builder Mode. Although they don’t function the same way, we can think of Bricks as similar to Gold Coins in that you can get them for free but also buy more if you want to keep playing.

To play casino-style games, you use Sweepstakes Coins. This side of the platform functions pretty much exactly the same as with the classic sweepstakes model. You can get SC through various free promotions, by sending off mail requests using the AMOE method, and as a free bonus when you buy Bricks and other Builder Items.

After your bonus SC has been used once to play games, you can redeem it for cash prizes.

VegasBuilder Casino Games

In this section, we’re focusing on the 788 casino-style games you can play using SC rather than the City building game, which we described above.

These 788 games can be played using SC only. We got 1 free SC on sign up, plus another 0.20 when we spun our first daily prize wheel. Unfortunately, that 1.20 SC didn’t last long: we lost it all in just 15 minutes of spinning Chili Coins from 3 Oaks Gaming.

From that point, our only real option to keep playing was to buy some Builder Spins, which come with free SC. For this reason, it’s very hard to recommend VegasBuilder unless you’re happy to spend some money.

The selection of games at VegasBuilder is relatively modest compared with other top sweeps casinos. It’s also not as varied as those sites: VegasBuilder consists of mostly slots and live dealer games, along with a handful of specialities.

The slots are all games we’ve seen at other sweepstakes casinos. The quality is high, and games like 3 Hot Chilis and the Le Bandit series combine imaginative themes and design with fun, engaging mechanics.

At the same time, the lineup is lacking any real standouts, like exclusive games or niche software providers.

The slots are divided up into sections like Vegas Picks and NeverEndingFavorites, as well as a section for New Games. Every slot also has a progressive jackpot feature built-in, which we were automatically opted into for a 0.10 SC per spin premium. It’s easy to opt-out if you want.

Aside from slots, the Live Dealer section contains 14 tables, mostly focused on variations of blackjack, roulette and baccarat. There is just one game show, Gravity Wheel. There are also some live CCTV-style games from 155.io, which we only found when we searched for a software provider.

Overall, VegasBuilder has a decent selection of slots and table games, but it doesn’t compete with the largest sweepstakes casinos.

VegasBuilder Casino Software Providers

VegasBuilder stocks games from 18 software providers. Given the total number of games, it means the menu feels very diverse, with lots of different themes, designs and mechanics covered. From the horror-themed Shady Lady slots to the buy-the-bonus feature on Arena of Iron from Hacksaw, there is a lot of variety to discover here.

The live casino is provided by Iconic21. Check out the full list of providers below:

VegasBuilder Casino Banking Options

You don’t need to spend any money to play at VegasBuilder if you don’t want to. You’ll get free BS and 1 free SC when you sign up, plus up to 2 free SC every day when you spin the wheel after you login.

You can also buy additional Build Items, including Build Spins, Bricks and Shields, which come with free bonus SC. In truth, our free SC didn’t last long and, since you can’t play games using GC, we needed to make a purchase quickly after we signed up to keep our gaming going.

The majority of the purchase options are for Build Spins, which you can see below:

  • $1.99 – 50 BS + 5 free SC (150% extra)
  • $9.99 – 100 BS + 10 free SC
  • $9.99 – 250 BS + 25 free SC (First Purchase Bonus for one hour only)
  • $24.97 – 250 BS + 25 free SC
  • $49.95 – 500 BS + 50 free SC
  • $99.99 – 1,000 BS + 100 free SC
  • $249.75 – 2,500 BS + 250 free SC
  • $499.50 – 5,000 BS + 500 free SC
  • $749.25 – 7,500 BS + 750 free SC
  • $999.99 – 10,000 BS + 1,000 free SC

You can also buy Bricks and Shields directly, which come with 1 free SC for every $1 you spend.

You can use the following methods to pay:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • Amex
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Cash App

When we tested it out, the payment process was nice and smooth. We chose the $9.99 special offer, which is only available for your first hour after you register. We don’t like this kind of time limit, but it’s still a solid offer.

Sweepstakes Coins as subject to the usual 1x playthrough requirements, after which they can be redeemed for cash prizes. You’ll need to win 100 SC to claim a prize, and you need to complete KYC verification first.

Intriguingly, VegasBuilder offers a one hour redemption guarantee, and they’ll give you 100 free spins if it’s late. However, it’s worth remembering that this only refers to the internal approval, and it may take days for the payment to be processed by your bank.

When we tested it out, we received a $134 payment pushed back to our Visa card three days after our request was approved.

Is VegasBuilder Casino Safe?

Yes, we’re happy to give VegasBuilder our seal of approval for safety.

Although it’s a brand new casino, the fact that Nickle Tech LLC already runs a legit sweeps casino is reassuring. You’ll find a lot of the same games there, from well-respected software providers like Betsoft, with a proven track record of using fair RNG software.

The information stored on-site is protected by very strong ECDSA encryption. It’s a positive sign that the major credit card companies are happy to process payments to VegasBuilder, and all of our transactions felt above board.

KYC is required at the point you make a redemption request, which is a legal requirement for sweeps casinos.

It’s very easy to set purchase limits using the tool in the Responsible Gaming section, without needing to contact support. You can also lock your account for 24 hours, seven days or one month.

Legal Status of VegasBuilder Casino

VegasBuilder is a free-to-play social gaming site, which has been set up to comply with promotional sweepstakes regulations. It’s not a real-money casino and doesn’t need a traditional gambling license.

The platform is available in 45 US states, including some states that have moved to prevent sweepstakes casinos like New York and California. It remains to be seen whether the slightly different gaming structure is enough to remain legally active in those states going forward.

VegasBuilder Casino Customer Support

We had a frustrating experience with customer support.

VegasBuilder doesn’t have a help section or FAQs, which makes it very difficult to figure out how the City building game works at first. Apart from email, customer support is based entirely around an AI-powered chatbot, which is extremely hit and miss.

Very often, when we asked a simple question, the bot would respond with:

“Sorry, I want to make sure I get this right – could you give me a bit more detail about what you need help with?”

Many times, we got stuck in a loop trying different prompts until we eventually got the info we were looking for.

Frustratingly, it’s clear that the bot has access to lots of very useful information. After much trial and error with questions, it was able to explain different parts of the game in minute detail, and answer our questions about redemption times, payment methods and more.

We don’t necessarily have a problem with AI-powered chat in theory, but only if it is reliable and consistent. At the moment, we can’t say that for VegasBuilder.

VegasBuilder Casino Review Summary

We invested 14 hours of research into this VegasBuilder review, over a two-week span. It’s clear that this is a unique sweepstakes casino with a lot of charm, but in our opinion, it’s only really suitable for a specific type of player.

First up, the world-building fantasy game doesn’t feel like an afterthought or side game in the way it does at some other sites. Instead, it’s a core part of the experience here, especially given there is no Gold Coin mode to play casino-style games.

If you want to just focus on slots and live games, you’d better be prepared to spend money on Build Items to build up your supply of free SC. There is no way to play games casually in social gaming mode.

If you love the idea of combining world-building video games with spinning SC slots, VegasBuilder is the perfect casino for you. If you’re just looking for a classic social casino, with more games and GC mode, there are plenty of better options out there.

We’d love to get your input too. If you’ve played at VegasBuilder, why not share your thoughts over on our Casinomeister forums.
