Casinomeister’s Verdict

BigBux is a Mystery Box site where you pay to open boxes that contain random prizes. It’s very different from a traditional sweepstakes casino, but the appeal has some crossover for fans of casino-style games.

We were impressed with BigBux’ high levels of safety and transparency, including employing the same provably fair model for opening boxes that blockchain sweeps casinos use. The gamified approach stood out too, including Battles and Draws, which add an extra layer of interest instead of simply opening boxes over and over again.

We didn’t like the fact that the few ongoing rewards and promotions were restricted to brand-new players until you start to climb the Loyalty Program, though.

BigBux Casino Overview

BigBux is not a sweepstakes casino, and it doesn’t let you play slots or other casino-style games. Instead, the platform is built around purchasing Mystery Boxes. Here’s how it works at its most basic level:

  • Top up your BigBux balance using bank cards or crypto.
  • Use your credit to buy a Mystery Box and open it to receive the random prize inside.
  • Sell the prize back to BigBux if you don’t want it or ship it to your home.

After you open a box, your prize gets added to your inventory in the My Cart section of your profile. From there, it’s easy to choose your next move from these four options:

  • If you decide to “Sell” your prize, it gets credited instantly to your account as cash you can withdraw.
  • With cash vouchers, you can “Withdraw” them directly from your Cart without selling them first.
  • For applicable items, you can arrange to “Ship” them to your address.
  • You can “Exchange” your items for a lower-value item + the difference in cash.

To open a box, simply click the Unboxing button from the menu and choose the one you want to open. The prize-wheel style graphic will spin and show you what you have won. Every box has a different price, reflecting the value of the items found inside, which range from playing cards and ice creams to electronics and high end fashion pieces.

What’s more, BigBux uses provably fair technology so you can manually check to make sure the odds were exactly as advertised. Each spin is recorded on the blockchain and the info can be cross-referenced with your unique client seed.

There aren’t many promotions, but they’ve got a BigBux welcome bonus. You’ll get to open three welcome boxes for free when you join, and get a 20% boost on your first deposit up to $100.

Our three boxes all contained cash vouchers worth $1, $0.50, and $0.01, respectively.

There is also a daily reward, but it only becomes available once you have climbed the BigBux loyalty program. After you make it to the first tier, you’ll get a small fixed cash bonus per day, with the amount tied to your VIP level. It starts at $0.10 per day and maxes out at $50 if you reach the top of the Program.

You make progress in the Loyalty Program by earning XP, which you get through opening boxes. If your prize is worth less than you spent on the box, the remaining value is credited in XP Points.

How Does BigBux Casino Work?

BigBux is a Mystery Box shopping site. You simply pay to open a box and receive a random item, which you can either keep or sell and withdraw the money to your bank account.

It is neither a gambling platform nor a sweepstakes platform and does not fall under the same regulation as either of those. It’s widely available both in the US and around the world, although certain countries are either partially or completely restricted.

BigBux Casino Games

In addition to the basic model of unboxing individual boxes and receiving the prize inside, BigBux offers four other ways to participate, which offer a more gamified experience.

Battles are head-to-head competitions against other users. Each user opens the same number of boxes of the same value, at the same time, round by round. The winner gets to keep all of the items at the end of the Battle.

There are different Battle formats to determine the winner:

  • Normal — the player with the highest total value wins
  • Crazy — the player with the lowest total value wins
  • Terminal — only the final round of the battle counts
  • Clutch — only your best round counts
  • Race — whoever wins the most individual rounds wins
  • Shared — no winner, everything is shared evenly at the end

Deals allow you to set your own odds on winning a specific item instead of opening a box. The price varies according to the odds you want. Just like opening a box, you spin a wheel to determine if you are successful or not, and if you are, you get to keep the item as usual. There is a house margin of 15% factored into the cost of every Deal you create.

Draws are a push-your-luck game where you reveal a random prize one at a time over a maximum of nine tiles. You can either claim what you have already opened and end the Draw, or gamble by opening another tile. If you bust, you lose everything.

Super Spins add a new element to the usual unboxing format. First, you open a box as normal to reveal the prize. Next, a multiplier wheel spins that scales the item’s value, from 0.25x to 10x, which determines your final prize. You’ll receive an item of equivalent value.

BigBux Casino Software Providers

BigBux doesn’t offer traditional casino-style games, and therefore doesn’t have any software providers.

BigBux Casino Banking Options

Although you’ll get to open three boxes when you first join, you’ll need to deposit money into your BigBux account to buy more Mystery Boxes.

Payments at BigBux are processed by a popular third-party payment service called Breeze. You can use Visa and Mastercard, Apple Pay and GPay, or choose from the following crypto coins:

  • BTC
  • USDC
  • USDT
  • SOL
  • ETH
  • DAI

You need to spend a minimum of $10 (or equivalent amount in crypto) to top up your account and every transaction comes with a 2% processing fee plus tax.

When we deposited $10 using our Visa card, it cost us a total of $11.30.The money was in our account instantly.

You can also withdraw cash from your BigBux account whenever you want, starting from $1.02. The cash gets sent back via the same method you used to deposit.

With physical items, you also have the option to ship it to your address if you don’t want to sell it for the cash equivalent. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go through the process of receiving any physical items over our review period, but we still investigated the process.

It takes Big Bux up to three days to process a request, at which point they provide you with a tracking link to follow your order. You must pay any additional customs duty, if applicable. BigBux provides a lot of info about their shipping policies and opens the door to potential refunds if your item is damaged.

Even though we couldn’t confirm the process first-hand, we were reassured by what we saw.

Is BigBux Casino Safe?

Yes, BigBux is a safe and fair site.

A big part of this impression is the provably fair technology that is built into every box you open. BigBux is totally transparent about the price of the box, the value of the contents and your odds of winning, and it’s pretty easy to check it all out for yourself if you want.

Since there aren’t any casino-style games, there is no need to worry about things like game fairness, RNG, wagering requirements, or other factors that can sometimes be tricky. We had no issues depositing or withdrawing money from your account.

It’s easy to get started with just your name and email address, and you can even deposit cash right away, but BigBux will ask you to complete KYC verification later before you can withdraw money. The site is protected by ECDSA encryption.

Legal Status of BigBux Casino

Mystery Box sites like BigBux operate in something of a legal grey area. They aren’t considered online gambling platforms, and they don’t rely on the sweepstakes laws that sweepstakes casinos do either.

BigBux is headquartered in Cyprus and available in various countries around the world. It’s also available everywhere in the US, although players in Washington don’t have access to the full range of features.

BigBux Casino Customer Support

BigBux is a little light on customer support options, with only email available during our review. You either use the request form on-site or send a message directly to [email protected].

BigBux says they expect to reply to messages within 48 hours, which tracks with our own experience. The staff who responded to us were friendly and knowledgeable, and did a good job of explaining the questions we had about the withdrawal process.

The service isn’t terrible, but 24 hours is a long time to wait for answers. Live chat customer support would be a considerable improvement and we hope BigBux considers it in the future.

On a brighter note, we were impressed with the information BigBux makes available to all users, especially through its FAQs. The information here does a great job of explaining exactly how the site works, breaking down potentially confusing concepts like provably fair boxes and Battles into easy-to-understand explanations.

We recommend starting with the FAQs before getting in touch. There is a good chance you’ll find your answer.

BigBux Casino Review Summary

BigBux was a new experience for us. Online casino-style games and sweepstakes casinos are our bread and butter, but after spending a total of 14 hours getting to know this platform, we can certainly see the appeal of Mystery Box sites like BigBux.

The core concept is very straightforward. Open a box to find out if your prize is worth more or less than what you paid, and then either keep it or sell it. We liked the Battles and other game formats: without them the experience could have gotten boring and repetitive quickly.

The fact that the whole platform is underpinned by provably fair technology is reassuring.

At the same time, there is a limit to the appeal.

The novelty of discovering what you have won is enjoyable, but it’s not as fun as slots or casino games, in our opinion. After our 14-hour review period, we felt like we had come to the end of BigBux. The Loyalty Program and a few ongoing promos don’t do a whole lot to keep the experience fresh.

If you’re in one of the many US states that don’t allow either sweeps casinos or real money gambling, we’re happy to recommend checking out BigBux as a quirky, legal alternative.

Also, if you’ve used BigBux, we’d also love to hear your opinions. Head over to our forums to share your experiences and check out what the rest of the community has to say.
