Multi-year deal with King's Casino Rozvadov
World Series of Poker Europe 2017 has moved to King's Casino Rozvadov (KCR) in the Czech Republic following a multi-year deal that will see KCR host numerous WSOP-branded events over the next several years.
Billed as Europe's largest poker room, KCR currently offers around 150 poker tables running cash games and tournaments around the clock.
Future expansion will see the property add a new hotel tower and another 40 poker tables which are expected to be complete prior to the start of WSOP Europe 2017.
"I have really bought into Leon's vision for creating a poker-first destination in Central Europe," WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart explained. "The existing set up already reminds me of the Amazon Room at the Rio and it's only going to get bigger".
"With King's backing large guarantees and media coverage, we believe we have found a long term home for WSOPE to replicate the scale we enjoy in Las Vegas."
Under the terms of the agreement KCR will host:
– WSOP Europe 2017 and 2019 featuring a minimum 10 WSOP gold bracelet events and Euro 5,000,000 in prize pool guarantees.
– Two WSOP Circuit Events in 2018 and 2020
– One WSOP Circuit event a year in the Spring in 2017, 2019 & 2021.
Each WSOP Europe Main Event will be filmed for television, with all other events receiving "robust" live reporting and live stream coverage.
"We are honored to be holding such prestigious WSOP bracelet events," KCR's Leon Tsoukernik said.
"Last year alone, we brought over 250,000 poker players to Rozvadov. Although this is already a great result for a town of 500, I believe we will be able to double that number as soon as our plans for expansion are completed and people will get the opportunity to come here for a proper poker holiday."
