If Finland is your whereabouts you’ve got the firsthand experience of what it’s like to be limited to only a handful of legitimate online casinos.
But things aren’t entirely bleak, or at least they won’t be anymore starting from 2027. That’s when the Finnish online gambling market will open for new operators, and Veikkaus won’t have the monopoly over all things gambling in Finland.
The new Finnish regulator, the Licensing and Supervisory Authority, will now allow private operators to apply for a Finnish license and launch their gambling platforms entirely legally in this country.
For players, this means no more taking chances with their money on offshore wildcards, while operators get a chance to earn a robust reputation by fulfilling the standards of a pretty strict regulatory regime. A win-win.
Hopefully, the days will zoom by until we see the first licensed casinos roll in in 2027.
