Grand Slam Has Started

Rick H does seem to be doing a hell of a lot of re-buys, hope he has not dented his potential 50k too much,as his 2nd position is still not totally secure.
Seems a bit pointless as he has no more chance of re-attaining the top spot as anyone else who the bankroll to go for it.
I would be so gutted watching 1 mill go down to 50k, but 50k is still a lot a cash and a brilliant result.

was wondering the same thing. If there are rebuys, then he should start from zero. How does this work, he seems to just continue, am I wrong?

I really hope you do! I'll get you one of those big cheques like they have on Children in Need!

Mark

Ha ha! Fantastic!

I'll get my best suit dry cleaned now - see you in the morning! :D

hi Mark

do i get one of those fancy looking cheques for my massive 100 euro win being back in 344th ;)

Over 100k in points is massive! I'll have another couple of rebuys later tho for fun

each rebuy starts with a coinbox set to zero, if during the play the coinbox exceeds your best score from previous sessions it will replace it.
He is rebuying and continuing if he gets a decent score from the first 9000
which anyone can do.Having a score of 73000 does not give him any advantage as far as I can see

I did about 5 or 6 rebuys then gave up.

Really appalling show by me - finished in around 600th place or so - yuk.

Maybe next year.

I realised from the start that piling in was not the best strategy. There are no guarantees, and rebuying in the faint hope of getting one of the two possible "knockout" events (5 scatters, or 5 wilds, IN the free spins) is no better than "chasing" behaviour.

I have decided on a different strategy over my THREE seats. If it pays off, I can STILL make a modest profit.

I could, of course, be spectacularly lucky and be the SECOND person to hit 5 scatters in free spins, or indeed 5 wilds.

5 scatters pays 90,000 coins, so either the new leader did badly apart from this, or has a continue left over in case they are overtaken by a small margin in the dying hours;)

Now, even if you get 5 scatters in free spins, it's gonna be very close.

The only possible left combination to beat this pattoned guy (or girl) in one spin is 5 wilds during free spins. I wonder if anyone ever got this combination.

30 minutes to go...

Congratulations

Well, even though I finished out of the money (VWM is a big ole meanie), I had a great time. I've had worse times losing $90. I did have one of the specials all to my self for a bit, and was watching Vinyl close in on me. I was hoping when he achieved a tie he would be content with that, no one was really in contention for that spot. But he put 500 on the line to take it alone, and I was unable to achieve a tie again. But it was a very exciting 12 minutes for me.

I'm really happy to see some CM members with cash from this.

Thanks again 32Red for my seat. And thanks to all the forum members who participated in the GSOS threads for making it even more interesting.

Hope MG made enough money to host it again.

There were 1643 seats with 0 scores, and these places were six of the specials. Does that mean that each of these (non) participants will split 6,000 euros for a sum of 3.65 each?

Well, I certainly wasn't reading this forum in the last hour!!!

I had my strategy all worked out.

I had another special further down, but got knocked back one, and then I WON TOO MUCH, and overshot:mad:

I had ONLY the one a 568 to play for, and I got 3 scatters, but DIDN'T take the free spins, since the scatters were just enough:D

My 32Red entry never gave me a decent start, never over 14K, so I used this to view "in a separate window". I discovered something rather interesting doing this, your score in the little tournament window DOES NOT UPDATE if you are overtaken by someone else. It was STILL showing me in 568, even though I had been knocked down to 569. I ONLY saw this on the separate window view. Worth remembering if there is another tournament with special places.

The ones with 0 points may NOT share the other specials, I am sure you actually have to PLAY before your score, and position, counts. We will have to see how MGS handle this, as normally there is no issue with a zero score being "in the money". They MAY decide to boost the special place prizes for players that did at least take part. I noticed that although the main prizes are showing on the scoreboard, the specials are NOT.

I'd like to say CONGRATULATIONS to all who managed to win some!
Sadly enough it wasn't me, but I've enjoyed this event anyway, it was just big fun!
And 32RED, thanks for making this tourney extra special here, with these extremely generous warmups and the leaderboard!:notworthy:notworthy

I'd like to see the party now at Pattoned's place..:p

Vinyl, I did watch you drop position. So I'm very glad if you were gonna bump me off that you were able to regain the money spot. I hate getting beaten by a loser :p

I should qualify what I said, it does not update the positions if you are overtaken, AND ARE NOT PLAYING AT THE TIME. I found that my score only correctly showed my position when I started playing and had my first minor win. I was playing ONE coin, and ONE line at the end, hoping to get just the increment I needed without overshooting.
The other one I was playing THREE lines, but ONE coin each, but got FIVE QUEENS:mad: This was 100 coins, WAY too much. I was after pairs of scatters, or THREE of a kind. I had too little time left to try for the next spot up in the specials, partly because the lag was HORRENDOUS in the closing stages.
I have retained position 568 after the close in one of my seats, so I have NOT profited really by having three. It seems that fewer than 9000 seats were allocated in the end, and well over 1000 of the players that DID have a seat never used it. This seems odd, as even if they didn't want to pay, they could at least have seen what they could get in the first round, or even save it up and try for a special place for 1000.
Maybe casinos allocated these seats, but DIDN'T TELL THE PLAYER. I only found one of my seats by chance, and I found out about the 32Red one a day or so before the start. I logged into Red Flush, and saw that slider telling me "you have a seat.....". I checked, and I did. I didn't even have an alias there, but they had allocated me one, and a seat. I later got an email that only IMPLIED I had a seat, it was NOT personalised, and looked more like a generic one sent to all.

After seeing the scores in the first hours, my REALISTIC strategy was to go for the specials with my 3 seats, using ONE seat only for repeated rebuys because I could easily overshoot the viable specials (which is exactly what happened with that seat - I couldn't beat my best score, so had no chance for a higher special place).

Now, I am wondering when the prizes get paid. The top couple are probably going to be done with a publicity exercise, but the minor ones could just be credited to the accounts as with other tournaments.

I kept opening and closing the leaderboard window to get it to update. I knew you were gunning for that spot for quite a while. I actually had noted the scores a couple of minutes before last chance before continuing, and had target scores in mind.

From the start, I was hoping for a special. I was actually surprised that more players did not seem to be targeting that.

And today for only the second time in two years of play, I got a Weekend seat.

I am so done with Laura.

I thought there would be quite a few, so I did a little research.

I found that if you BOUGHT a rebuy or continue, but didn't make your first spin, you could exit and save it up for the final half hour. You could tell who else had done this by looking at the expanded leaderboard. Anyone on zero coins within the last half hour was a "sitting duck" if THEY had the special position. I found that grabbing a special position earlier on was unlikely to last, so I decided it would all be done in the final half hour, so set up my seats with a fresh continue, and just waited for the final half hour. It was then a case of getting into position. The big problem was overshooting, the score spacings were very small, and many wins, even with only one coin and one line in play, were too big.
I almost had TWO specials, but someone came from below and took the lower one off me, and YOU fought me tooth & nail for the higher one. I kept one, but couldn't recapture the other.
Maybe I should have gone for MORE SEATS, since so many were unused, I could then have had more of these special places.

I think many people did not even know about the specials.
Its hardly advertised, I didn't know it either until I read it here on the forum.
They don't show in the prize window either.
And yes, I think many people have had a Lara-overdose these past 10 day's, lol.
Gonna play some Centre Court!:D

?

my finishing window says I won 424 place but when I went to check in winners list I was not in 424 nd when I checked to see where I was it kicked me out went to live chat they said I may not have 424 place because they are not finished updating?
