NEW R&M STUDY ON LATIN AMERICAN POTENTIAL
3 September 2010
Research group reports that this market could
generate billions a year
The energetic independent research group Research and
Marketing has released the highlights of its latest
study, which suggests that Latin America offers massive
potential for online gambling operators.
R&M's
statistics predict that the region could deliver
gambling revenues in excess of $10 billion a year, with
average gambler spend per annum around $250.
Costa Rica, a base for many online gambling operators,
showed up well in the study with revenues of $14.5
billion, whilst the big industrial capacity and
consequent availability of more discretionary income in
Brazil helped it generate $4.1 on lottery gambling, part
of general gambling revenues of some $7 billion.
In Argentina, the overall gambling industry delivers
annual revenues of $4.5 billion a year, whilst
Colombia's revenues are estimated at $2 billion, Panama
$1.17 billion, Venezuela a billion and Chile $600
million.
The study found that the vibrant tourism
of the region boasts a predicted growth rate of 5
percent per annum and is strongly linked with gambling
activity, and the marked gambling culture throughout the
region makes for solid internet gambling potential.
"Despite the recent global crisis, Latin American
countries are on a fast track to full economic recovery
and it is projected that the region will benefit from a
four percent growth rate in 2010," the report notes.
"The region's recovery is the world's second
strongest after Asia, according to the World Bank."
The report observes that the region generally
encourages overseas foreign investment, with many
countries offering incentive benefits, and investors
being treated with respect and without discriminatory
laws.
