MONEYBOOKERS MAKES UK'S TOP TEN TECHNOLOGY COMPANY LIST

Sixth ranking achieved in Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 league table
 

Europe-facing online payments company Moneybookers has been included in The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 league table, ranked at number six.

The league table ranks Britain's fastest-growing private technology companies based on sales growth over the last three years. Moneybookers’ top ten position acknowledges the company’s sustained strong growth since its foundation in 2001. The company has an annual transaction volume of over Euro 3.5 billion.

In 2008, revenue and profits doubled, making it one the fastest growing and most successful global payments companies in the world, with over nine million account holders, many of them online gamblers.

The company was also highlighted as having the highest profit margin of all league table entrants.

Moneybookers’ worldwide payment network offers businesses access to over 80 payment options in over 200 countries through a single integration and the firm was the first e-money issuer in the UK to be licensed by the FSA.

A company statement claims that over 45 000 merchants use Moneybookers, including global partners such as eBay.com, Skype and Thomas Cook. Over 12 000 customers sign up for an account every day.

The co-CEO of the company, Nikolai Riesenkampff, commented: “This top ten ranking positions us at the forefront of technology companies in the UK and comes on top of the recognition we received at this year’s Media Momentum Awards. Our growth rate shows no sign of slowing as we continue to expand, increasing our reach and developing new products.”

The publication of The Sunday Times Microsoft Tech Track 100 league table precedes a separate awards ceremony which will be held in November.
