Veteran Aussie gambling site closed by Lasseters

One of the Internet's older online gambling sites, AusVegas.com.au is to be closed by parent Lasseters, itself experiencing tough financial times.

In an email to affiliates this week, Lasseters advised that a decision had been made to close the site, and that the move was motivated by a need to combine the Lasseters and AusVegas websites

"The closure of Ausvegas creates the opportunity to direct all efforts into the further development of one strong consistent brand, which is the Lasseters brand," the notification disclosed. "The decision to focus on building our product range for Lasseters Online Casino and Lasseters Sports will see them offering exciting new games and product for customers in the very near future.

"It is therefore AusVegas' intention to cease the operation of the Ausvegas site and close all player accounts on Monday 13th October 2008 at 10:00am (ACST).

"Although an automatic migration of players is not possible, Lasseters will be encouraging Ausvegas players to register on Lasseters Online Casino and Lasseters Sportsbook, if they don't have an existing account already. If your players accept our invitation to register at Lasseters Casino or Sportsbook, we will attach your affiliate tag to your players' new accounts, ensuring a continuation of your commissions.

"We truly appreciate your support and loyalty during your time with us. Please rest assured you are extremely important to us and we remain committed to retaining you as a business partner on our Lasseters gaming sites."
