PKR POKER CLAIMS 2 MILLION PLAYERS
12 September 2008
3D poker site is fastest growing outside US
It seems just yesterday that the 3D online poker site
PKR.com founded by Internet whiz Jez San, OBE - the
first person ever to be awarded an OBE for services to
the computer games industry - celebrated its one
millionth player registration, yet this week that number
had doubled, according to a press release from marketing
director Simon Prodger.
Characterising the company as being in the midst of an
"impressive upswing", Prodger says that the magic 2
million player level was reached less than a year after
passing the one million player benchmark.
"Only a handful of poker brands have ever reached this
milestone and none have done it so quickly without
taking US players," said Prodger. "We are delighted with
our progress and look forward to making our third year
even better."
According to PokerScout.com the next-gen poker site is
the fastest growing online room that does not, at this
time, accept US players and the second fastest growing
site overall. The secret of its success is apparently an
aggressive and varied marketing strategy, and a wide
range of unique features like a special 'emote' control
function and infinitely customisable characters in
addition to high quality 3D functionality.
The site has been featured prominently in various
popular magazines and recently launched PKR TV (see
previous InfoPowa report), which is an hour long TV show
that reaches over 15 million people across Europe. PKR
also publishes Stacked, a consumer magazine.
