PokerStars WCOOP event 6 features major six figure
payouts
Online poker action continued to deliver major winning
payouts this week as events in the PokerStars 2008 World
Championship of Online Poker concluded.
Event 6 - the $530 buy-in NLHE online tournament at the
WCOOP attracted a massive entry of 7 351 players for
Sunday afternoon's start, all chasing a guaranteed $3
million prize pool which had swelled to $3 675 500 by
the time the last registration was completed.
In hectic action, the field was down to the final 9 by
late evening, with Russian player 'solovka' holding a
significant chip lead over nearest opponent 'Calvin32'
of the United States. And that's how it stayed for
pretty much the rest of the 70 minute final table until
they faced each other in the heads up, although there
were times when the chiplead fluctuated between the two
very competent players over some 200 hands of action in
two hours.
In the end it was the American who prevailed, and
Calvin32's main prize haul would have been the envy of
many top land tournaments at $452 086 and some change.
His uncompromising Russian opponent did well out of the
day, too with a second place cheque for $306 169 whilst
those big six figure numbers extended down to 5th place,
where 'cassie13' collected a still-very-respectable
payout of $132 318.
