Bodoglife debuts in aftermath of 1st Technologies patent dispute


The marketing people at Bodog must be running themselves ragged with the fast pace of domain and branding changes that has emerged from the online gambling and entertainment group's patents run-in with 1st Technologies (see previous InfoPowa reports)

When its domains were closed down earlier this month in a default judgement from Nevada and later Washington courts, Bodog had to react quickly, creating "New Bodog.com" as a holding tactic, and quite remarkably managing to push the new domain rapidly up the search engine results pages. At the same time the company revealed that it had clinched a deal with the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group company which involved that entity taking over its North American Bodog brands under an exclusive license.

Now the domain has been permanently changed to Bodog Life.com according to a press release this week from the company's Antigua offices.

"Recently, there have been changes at Bodog concerning the company's domain name," the press statement recaps. "Bodog temporarily used 'newbodog.com' after their root domain was hijacked in a frivolous patent dispute. In an effort to move to a more accurately-named home, the company is pleased to announce bodoglife.com."

Bodog founder and CEO Calvin Ayre is quoted as saying: "Hey, the world changes, and if you don't change with it, you get left behind. That said, although the Bodog address is changing the bottom line is: at Bodog, it's business as usual. Same great site, just a new Web address."

The statement goes on to boast that although the domain dispute caused "some drama throughout the company, a talented staff of over 1000 people rallied together and maintained the billion dollar business on a strong growth curve during one of the busiest seasons."
