Iceland, Romania, Canada and the U.S.A. to duke it
out for top honours and cash
The Poker Stars sponsored World Cup of Poker IV is
nearing the grand finale in Barcelona, Spain this
weekend with Iceland, Romania, Canada and the U.S.A.
remaining in contention and featuring many top world
players.
The preliminary team scoring round of PokerStars WCP IV
was completed just before the weekend, with the
following results:
Iceland - 45 points
Romania - 44 points
Canada - 40 points
U.S.A. - 37 points
Portugal - 33 points
Ireland - 31 points
Germany - 21 points
Mexico - 19 points
40 top players from eight different countries have been
competing for honour and a healthy cash prize. The top
four teams will play a four-handed, tag-team tournament
to determine which country wins the prestigious title
The four-player teams qualified earlier for the final
rounds now taking place at the Casino de Barcelona. Each
of the eight teams have been joined by a fifth team
member selected by Poker Stars, including players of the
calibre of Greg Raymer (USA), Daniel Negreanu (Canada),
and Katja Thater (Germany).
At stake is a $220 000 prize-pool, with the winning team
taking the lion's share of $100 000 for division among
team members.The remainder of the pool will go to the
second, third and fourth placed teams in the ratio $60
000, $40 000 and $20 000.
